We have never been, but are coming!~ How do I start to set up a great week in Disney for a great rate? We want to stay in the park.

Well, first off I see that you are military, so you can stay at the Shades of Green Resort, which is on Disney property, and from what I have seen of the rates is very reasonable. Because I am not military and won't ever have the chance to be, I cannot tell you anything else about it. But I can say that there are plenty of other Disers out there that should be able to tell you at great lengths. You can also check out some info about SOG, on this web site www.allearsnet.com It has all kinds of useful info about the parks, resorts, right down to the menus at all of the restaurants on property and it includes their prices. You will definitely find it useful. Also, where are you from?? If SOG is not what you want Disney offers Fl and GA resident rates, as well as AAA. It also depends on what time of year you plan on visiting. Despite what half the world thinks, you can do a WDW vacation without breaking the bank. Anything you need, just ask someone out here on the boards will be glad to answer it for you. Hope this helps some

Also, Disney is running a special right now called the five plus 2 deal, where you pay for 5 nights stay and ultimate park hopper tickets and get 2 more nights stay and tickets. However, I always find it cheaper to book the room only and buy tickets seperately. Have a wonderful trip, and remember joining the Dis Boards will be the best planning decision you ever made.

I just checked and the price of the Shades of Green Resort depends on what military ranking you are. The cheapest rate is at $69/night, and the most expensive rate is at $109/night . Both of which is really reasonable compared to Disney rates at the other resorts, another cheaper/ still on property resort is the All Star Resorts, or the new Pop Century Resort. These are right around the same price range I just gave you for SoG

I am in Fl too, and waiting for the resort codes for Oct to come out, when we went in March, we stayed at the All star Music resort and the rate was $74/night. A lot of people say that the All stars have no frills but I don't know about you but when I'm on vacation I usually don't spend a lot of time in the room, and me I have two younger kids and they thought that the theming of the whole hotel was wonderful and they really enjoyed the themed pool. But thats just me. I doubt I'll ever pay $250-300 to stay at one of the WDW deluxes. The Values are great for our family. I was thinking of staying at the Ft. Wilderness Cabins, but that was when my mom and mil were spending the week with us there and it was the only reasonable room for 6 people. But again thats just me. If there is anything I can do to help w/ planning let me know.:)
