My DS saw a toy monorail set in one of the stores on Main Street at MK during our October visit. Since we were flying I told him we could not buy it (just no room.)

Well, now it is on his Christmas list. I can't remember much about the decription at all. I called Disney Merchandising, and they have only 1 toy Monorial set (starter set) available for $60.00.

Does anyone know if there are any other set out there?? I want to get the right one. She told me this is the only set carried by all Disney stores on property.

Advice anyone???

Thanks!!

That sounds about right. I have two monorails and they were $60. You can ask if they come with the track and the monorail cars. But I'm pretty sure what she is telling you is the same as you saw in the store.

Just went to check the box, it has 14ft of track and monorail. Was $60.00. Comes with 12 curved and 2 straight pieces. Box says Theme park collection and is blue with yellow writting. At the time we bought this one the item
number was 23684, this may have changed since that time. I also have most of the other buildings, attractions if you need any other help.

There are other pieces to the set (the Poly, GF and Contemp) but this is the only starter set. There is also a train set for the same price if you linke trains too :)

You can get extra track as well ($10 a box). They call it the starter because it is just the monorail train and the oval loop.

Just wanted to add that if you do see something you'd like to buy but don't know how to get it home or just don't have the room, you can ask them to ship the item to your home when you make your purchase. I also believe that you don't get charged the sales tax when you do this so the shipping isn't really too bad!

Lori is not correct, you will not be charged shipping if the item is being shipped outside of FL. If you ship something standard, it will take between 2-3 weeks to arrrive.

I'm confused. What is Lori not correct on? Do they not charge shipping either? She is correct about them not charging tax, but only if you live outside of Florida, I believe.

One warning...there are MANY accessories for the monorail and I had no idea how large our display would grow around the base of our Christmas tree. Now, we almost have to open presents in the other room due to the monorail set-up.

Not only are there the resorts mentioned above available but also Spaceship Earth and several stand-alone attractions like the Haunted Mansion. There are also rides which get activated when the monorail rides by but you have to buy the special attraction connector pieces. When you keep adding you will definitely need the switching station so you can have three separate tracks for the monorail to travel. On our last trip we found they now sell accessory packs including the resort and parks signs for WDW as well as trees and lamp posts. I never imagined we would get this carried away with one little toy. ;)

The best store for buying the monorail accessories at WDW that we have found is the shop at AK that you walk through when exit Dinosaur. I don't know why this is but have never found all the accessories in one place in recent years except here.

I have shipped numerous things home and if you are shipping outside of Florida you do not have to pay the Florida Sales Tax, if you ship inside Florida you do have to pay tax. They do, however, charge you for shipping and it depends on how much your purchase was for and also if you want to ship it ground or by air. It is a super convenient way to get larger items home and not have to shlep them on a plane! They also ship home items from the Disney World Outlet stores in Orlando as well.

anyone have the phone number for gettting these items?? we picked up extra track...I want it to go around the tree...but I'd love for SAnta to bring the castle!!

There is no castle specifically for the monorail set but there is a castle play set with little figures that might work.

The castle is called a play set, but I have always seen it set up with the monorail set. It even comes in the same kind of box.
The number to merchandising is 407-363-6200.
My son bought the monorail with his money last month when we were at WDW and my DH and I purchased Spaceship Earth and the Contemporary for his birthday and Christmas. My parents purchased Space Mountain and the accessory set for Birthday and Christmas. We have the monorail set up around our tree and it is awesome! I can't wait to see it all set up together!

thanks for the clarification on the castle set. I had seen it in Mousegears WITH all the momorail stuff & it was in the SAME boxes...maybe they do this to confuse people??

We set up our monorail set last night but we need more curve track to get the third loop finished. I'll be making the call to WDW merchandise too. ;)

Anyone know which rides and an approximate price? And the price of the switching station?

Thanks!!

I want to say the rides were around $20 each. We have Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, and the Tea Cups from WDW plus the Stinger and a plane ride from DCA. The ride activating supports are $6 each I believe. We added a Haunted Mansion playset that has lights and sounds but doesn't interact with the monorail. I really don't remember how much the switching station was but my guess is around $50.
