Need advice on how to edit a picture

I am in a situation here. I will try to explain it as brief as I can.

My father passed away in November. For his service, all of us kids got together and made up a memory board with pictures of us kids with Dad. Well, I had the board at my house and I got the chore of taking them all off and putting in envelopes to return to everyone. Here comes the problem. When I went to take off this one picture, the one it was stuck to below it (with double sided tape) when i pulled it gently up it took off a piece of the picture below it. It was a picture of my Dad with my sister, he is kissing her on the cheek and they both are smiling/laughing. It is a great picture. Well, the piece that came up is on her shirt. Not on either of their faces thank GOD. Anyways, I was going to tell her about it but before I got a chance, she says "I can't wait to get that picture of Dad and I where he is kissing my cheek. I call that my "forever kiss from Dad". Ok, so I chicken out and tell her that I forgot to bring the pictures and that I will get them to her soon. I didn't have the heart/courage to tell her that the picture was damaged. I know I should have. It wasn't anyones fault, we all put the pictures on the board, but i just couldn't bear to tell her.

Ok, so the picture has to be scanned/photo-brushed-edited/ but I don't have a scanner, or the software to this and I need to do something QUICK AND IN A HURRY. Is there a chain of stores that will do this quickly? Does KINKOS do that type of thing? I am so stressed out about this I can't stand it.

i don't know about kinkos but maybe call some camera shops in your area...see if one of your local ones does in house processing etc and if they can't fix it they probably could tell you who could and who would do a good job

I live in a small town, no photo shops. We have a city about 45 minutes away, I think I will try to get a phonebook from there and look and see what they have.

Yup, I'm here in Rochester, too (technically Riverton/West Henrietta near Scottsville, but that means nothing to anyone not from the area. )

I don't have any recommendations for local touch-up places as I've never researched into that, but I know they exist... how bad is the damage? Is a decent-size piece gone or just a small part, and is it all the same color?

If you like, I can scan in the photo for you and see what I can do with it, no charge of course - but no guarantees that I'll do a very good job, either. I can get a decent scan that I could send to anyone who thinks that they may be able to do a more professional job.

Of course, it would still need to have another print made and will be, no doubt, lower quality than the original. (And if you're 45 minutes from Rochester, you'll looking at a long drive for possibly lousy results!) The best situation would be if she still has the original negative and can have another print made from that.

I would probably lean towards explaining the situation though - I mean, apart from making another print from the negative, there's no way that she won't notice that it's not the same picture that she provided, so she'll have to find out sooner or later. Might as well get the unpleasant news relayed now and see if she has the negative, that'd be easier on everyone, and if not, you can offer to have it touched up in one way or another.
