I'm taking my parents to WDW next x-mas. My DH's DGM lives in Orlando. We always visit with her and take her to dinner a couple of times. We've never been to HDDR, it sounds like a fun for my immediate family and parents.
Questions:
1) Is there alot of activity that would make someone feel out of place if they aren't participating? For example, DGM (she's 90) had no problem waving her napkin and cheering at Chef Mickey.
2) Is this one of the events you pay for in advance? In case someone can't make it, its a pricey ticket.

Thanks for any help!

We went a few years ago and one thing I remember was that we were on barstool type chairs. I can't imagine that they didn't have regular table and chairs too, I just don't remember. Other than that I think the only physical participation was the bandana waving.

We went in Sept twice this year and it was regular tables and chairs w/backs. My DD12 loves it.

1) Is there alot of activity that would make someone feel out of place if they aren't participating? There's only one time that I can remember where you wave your napkin around and at the end every table gets a washboard and spoon to play.
2) Is this one of the events you pay for in advance? In case someone can't make it, its a pricey ticket. I've never been charged in advanced, but you must cancel 48 hours out or you will be charged.

We've been 3 times in the past 15 months. Its a blast.

Thanks for the advice!!
This sounds like so much fun. My DH's grandmother was 90 in June. If we make plans, she will be 91 1/2 when we go (when do you start counting in halves again? :goodvibes ). She still has so much energy that the participation level sounds perfect for her.

Thanks again. :wave2:

Wow. REALLY? I've never NOT had to pay in advance for HDDR. Anyone else made reservations for HDDR and NOT had to pay for it in advance???

You DO have to pay in advance. I don't know about getting $ back on a ticket if someone can't come. It's not just a reservation but a purchase.

There are just regular tables and chairs. Some audience members participate but you are asked if you'd like to and can discreetly say no. I don't like that stuff, but felt very comfy there.

The only thing everyone does are things at the table, similiar to Chef Mickeys.

Its a great show - good for all ages - and we were sad when it ended we were having so much fun! I think your family will love it!
