I am planning a trip there and one of my concerns is that the resort is so spread out. The other is that the buildings are only two stories and have no elevators.
Questions:Can someone who has stayed there tell me how long it takes to walk from your room to the theme park bus stop?? (In a best case scenario and a worst case where you are far away).
Also, how much of a hassle is it to walk up to the second floor?? (Not to sound lazy but, at the end of the night with a sleeping/cranky baby, I don't want any extra hassles) (And I don't like staying on the ground floor for safety reasons- I'm picky I know). ::MinnieMo

According to allearsnet.com, the longest walk from the farthest room to Old Port Royale is about a half-mile, 10-15 minutes. BUT, each section (each named for a Caribbean island) has its own bus stop, so you don't need to walk that far just to get a bus. In addition, there is an internal shuttle bus that just circles that property and doesn't go to any theme parks.

You can pay extra, $15 per night, to reserve a room in one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale --I did this because we have 2 pre-schoolers and thought the less walking to the main pool and food court the better.

When you ask how much of a hassle is it to walk up to the second floor, I don't know how to respond. Do you have a second floor on your house? If you do, I imagine it will be something like that!

When you talk about "safety reasons," keep in mind that ALL the WDW moderate resorts are motel-like -- there are no indoor hallways. Your second-floor room opens onto a "public" open-air hallway/balcony. So, I don't know if this helps you or scares you, but if someone has bad intentions the ONLY thing that will keep that person from a second-floor room is an open-air stairway, hardly an effective security system unless that is one lazy criminal.

You may be comforted to know that CBR is basically a gated community -- there is a guard at the road leading into it, and only those with valid reasons are permitted onto the grounds.

Read more at http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_cbr.htm. I last stayed at CBR 15 years ago, and I have learned a lot about EVERYTHING Disney from that site.

:sunny: Thought maybe I could help. We stayed at CBR a few years ago. The resort is very spread out. I was in my 20's at the time and my son was 4. We had no problem walking around. We were in the Barbados section. It was a good 15 minute walk to Old Port Royale. I didn't mind the walk, but my mother (55) and my sister (4 mos. pregnant), found it to be too far after a day in the parks.

We stayed on the 2nd floor. The stairs were not very steep. No one in our party ever complained about them. A couple of times I carried my 4 y/o and didn't have a problem. We found our room to be very quiet. We were a short walk to the bus stop and our quiet pool. There was also a nice playground right outside our building that my DS enjoyed.

I think CBR is a nice resort for younger children. The themed pool is just right for younger kids and the large playground on the island along with all the smaller ones scattered throughout the property can keep them entertained for quite a while. :goodvibes

Just thought you might want to hear of our experience. Hope you have a great time whatever you decide!!!! ::MinnieMo
