When we sail on the Magic we will be celebrating our sons 4th birthday. Im looking at the cake order form and I wanted to get feedback from anyone that has ordered a cake.

Options for us:
CELEBRATE TODAY! 6" CAKE - serves 4 to 6 people - $25.00 - no special decorations
Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Cream Filling and White Icing
OR
Chocolate Sponge Cake with Chocolate Mousse Filling and Chocolate Glaze

SPECIAL CAKES - prices vary -- no special decorations
8in cake $32, you can pick cake, filling, frosting and a message

Do these REALLy come with NO decorations?
Does the CELEBRATE TODAY cake really not come with a message on it?
Do these taste any good?

THANKS:)

We sailed on the Dream in January and ordered an 8-inch special cake to surprise our children. It was awful and I have to say I enjoy cake, all kinds, fancy bakery cakes, grocery store cakes, any cake.

We ordered a white cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. It was still cold when it was delivered and the frosting was crumbling off of it so we waited until that evening for it to come to room temperature and it tasted stale. We said something to guest services and they asked if they could remake the cake for our son's 5th birthday celebration at dinner on our last night. This cake tasted just as stale, the kids didn't even want any. We were very disappointed and felt like it was a waste of money. Next time we will skip any special order cake.

Hopefully someone will have been on the Magic recently and can say theirs was good, but on the Dream it wasn't.

I hope the chocolate cake w choc icing is better . I ordered it for my sister & bios anniversary. Can I cancel the order. The cruise is in June?

Honestly, my experience with DCL cakes has not been good. You'll do better to bring something like a frozen SaraLee cake from the grocery store! If you keep it frozen until you leave for your trip, it should arrive intact..and you'll have a fridge in your room.

They will bring him a complimentary birthday dessert and sing in the dining room.

We sailed last month on Wonder. We celebrated our son's 4th Birthday. They DO serve Birthday cake in restaraunts if you request. It was a small single one person cake but tasted really good. We brought some Birthday banners and tape... The room Host will decorate your room while they clean the room in the morning. It was nice. and Last thing to share, guest service surprised him with a stuffed animal when we went to ask for the birthday pin badge.

We sailed last month on the dream for my mom's 60th. We were planning on ordering a cake, but had heard similar reviews on the cakes. They will bring a special birthday dessert for FREE at dinner and will sing when they deliver it. It was a very yummy rich chocolate thing. We ended up all sampling it. , as we had also ordered our own desserts. Nobody could finish theirs, so we were so glad we didn't get the cake!

I brought on cupcakes to celebrate a friends 50th b'day in Jan. The cakes that DCL serves are pretty bad in my opinion - the only expection I've heard of is that the wedding cakes are good.

Actually, a family in our group ate gluten free, so they got a gluten free Birthday cake with dinner (the free kind) and it was really yummy! Kind of a spice cake.

I got just the "regular" Birthday cake with dinner for my birthday, and it was all right, but nothing special.

Sayhello

We celebrated our DDs 6th birthday onboard the Dream in February. We just did without the cake and she had "Happy Birthday" sung to her over a yummy brownie.

With all the sweets and treats she had on the trip ("hello, room service, one Mickey Bar please!") a cake was not missed at all. (Especially a yucky cake ;))

Have a great trip!

Good to know ... no cake for me ... guess I'll have to do something else for our 20th ...

We ordered the cake that goes with the $50sommit celebration package. First cake was awful so we took to guest services as it tasted like salt. That evening the Executive Pastry chef came to our table apologized profusely and said he had tasted the cake and salt HAD been used instead of sugar. He said he would get a special cake delivered the next day and had another surprise for us. Our server then brought out a huge plate of chocolate covered strawberries (which looked and tasted amazing). My little guy then got a lovely cake the next day which tasted delicious.

Thats what I love about Disney. They made a mistake but could not do enough for us to rectify it.
