I am currently training for the full marathon in Jan. I usually do my long runs on Fri. We are leaving for Universal on Wed and will return home on Sun. I am going to try to get in a few short runs while down in FL, but there is no way I will be able to get in a long run.

Here is how my training schedule should have looked
Fri. Oct. 4 -9 miles (done)
Fri Oct. 11 - 10 miles
Fri Oct 19- 7 miles

I have today and tomorrow free but it doesn't seem like a good idea to squeeze in the 10 miles before we leave since i just did 9 on Fri. I was thinking of maybe doing the 7 tomorrow and doing the 10 the week I return home.

Once home I can either do my long runs on Wed or Fri based on my work schedule.

Thanks for any input. I really don't want to fall behind in training but also don't want to get inured by squeezing my long runs in to close.

If you cannot run long while in Orlando, and you can get your 10 miler in before leaving, I think I would run 10 tomorrow. With four days between runs you should be OK.

Note if staying on I-Drive in the Universal area, use caution while running. The best time to head out is early in the morning.

I spent 10 days in WDW in August and decided to skip all of my long runs because of the heat and all of the walking involved. I ran 3-5 miles every morning before/as the sun came up. When I got home, I jumped right back into my schedule as though I had made every planned run and saw no difference in performance.

So, my advice, don't worry about it. Run to keep up your fitness, but skip the long runs and pretend that you made them.
