Need advice from the experts, please!

We became DVC members and enjoyed our first trip home last November. This December we are bringing our friends with us who have never experienced Disney, ever! We are so eager to "live the magic" with them for the first time and then to spoil them with the accommodations of their own DVC 2 BD villa! Of course the DVC magic is a Sunday-Thursday schedule since we're using our points for 2 rooms...we're already booked at POR for Friday and Saturday.

Here's where the rookie in me shines through... We own 240 points at SSR. I have booked two 2 BD villas for December 3-7 (Sun-Wed) which will cost me 216 points. If I were to go all 5 "cheap" nights it would be 270 nights for both rooms and I'd have to borrow 30 points I can't give back, correct?

My hope is to be able to book two 2 BD villas at OKW for Sun-Thur at the 7 month mark. The OKW plan would cost me 220 points.

Here are my questions to those of you that know the "reality" of how these reservations usually go...

1. Do I even have a chance of getting my 2 rooms for the 5 days at OKW??

2. Is there a chance I won't be able to get the Thursday added on the reservations I already have at SSR for both families IF I have to go that route and borrow points?

You would borrow 30 points from one use year into another, and once you do that, it is an irreversible transaction. If there was a change in plans, you could still use those points for another ressie, but only in the UY they were borrowed into. It's not a question of "giving back," they're still your points.

That's hard to say. Early December is probably the busiest time of the year for OKW. We went to OKW during that exact period last year, but we booked in our 11 month window and we were only looking for one 2 BR. The only way to tell for sure is try.

2. Is there a chance I won't be able to get the Thursday added on the reservations I already have at SSR for both families IF I have to go that route and borrow points?

There is always a chance of no availability, but I'd bet you will be successful. You won't actually borrow the points unless there is availability and you make the ressie, so you won't risk points by trying.

If you try right at the 7 month window, I think you will have a fair chance of getting what you want at OKW, and I also think you will still be able to add that Thursday at SSR as well.
