Need advice from seasoned marathoners!!

Hi All,

My DH wants to run the 2013 Disney Marathon. I would like some advice on that weekend...What are the absolute must do's during that time? What would be the best Disney resort to stay at? Is there anything special I could call ahead and order to the room for him as a surprise? We were thinking of maybe the PR or a villa. I thought if we stayed at the Poly, we could see him at some point then take the monorail over to Epcot and see him finish. I do have to take into consideration that Grammy is coming with us and I have two kids ages 7 and 4 (the pace to get somewhere with my group is kind of slow). Thank you for all your help.

I like staying at the Boardwalk, the marathoners go right by on the BeachClub side between miles 24 and 25, you could get a good place for cheering him that's close to the finish and you would have plenty of time to get everyone going before he gets there. It's tough getting around to different spots to watch when you are keeping up with a group and a lot of places like Magic Kingdom you might not get more than a glance.

The Boardwalk area is a great area to cheer the runners. When I did the Goofy in 2010, we stayed at the Poly. I LOVED staying there because it meant I could sleep in a little longer and catch the monorail at the Ticket and Transportation Center (5 minute walk) to go to Epcot.

As for cheering, you can catch the runners at the transportation center on their way to the MK. After that, go get a snack at the Poly and then head across the parking lot to catch the runners after they leave the MK. Rest up a bit and then catch the monorail to Epcot and cheer your DH at the finish line.
