This is not Disney related. But I trust any diser on this.....I need suggestions for a nice hotel to stay in on Victoria Island. We're planning a trip there next July. I thought the Fairmont Empress would be nice, but I haven't read any good reviews on trip advisor for that hotel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:)

is beautiful. As for reviews, I wouldn't worry about that - pretty much every visiting dignitary (the Queen, heads of state, etc.) stay there, so no worries LOL

It's not cheap, but it's gorgeous and classy. I hope you enjoy "high tea" :sunny:

who now wants to go have high tea lol

Hotel choices really depend on what you are looking for. You can go with the Hotel Grand Pacific (adjacent to the parliment buildings and facing the inner harbour) or The English Inn and Resort (3 miles from downtown but on a lovely estate) or stay at the Traveller's Inn if you are on a budget (basic chain hotel).

Thanks so much I'll go on the web and check these out!!

There are many hotels in the downtown harbour area. Some that I have had company functions at are:

Harbour Towers (250) 385-2405
The Magnolia Hotel and Spa (250) 381-0999
Laurel Point Inn (250) 368-8721
Marriott Victoria Inner Harbour (250)480-3800

Victoria also has many of the international hotel chains, Holiday Inn, Best Western, Days Inn ect.

Hope this helps.

THanks so much for all of the advice. I'll look into all of these hotels. I'm so excited. I haven't been to Victoria since I was a child. THis will be so much fun!!!

I stayed at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria. :goodvibes

It was beautiful :thumbsup2

We had a room that overlooked the Inner Harbour and we could watch the float planes and many types of boats come and go :)

The room was big and clean and we had access to a private lounge for guests staying on the 4th floor where we watched the Canada Day Fireworks and were served with drinks & snacks :thumbsup2

At night, you have a perfect view of the Parliament Buildings as they light up (just like the buildings in EPCOT) :cloud9:

My DS(16) who is not impressed by much these days, raved about the Delta and Victoria :lmao:

I used aeroplan miles to buy a GC to pay for the room.

I love BC  it is a beautiful place and can't wait to return :goodvibes

Good Luck in the planning of your trip :)

I second the Delta Ocean Pointe! WOW its a nice place!

Thanks so much for all of the input!! I think I'm more confused than ever now. LOL Many of these hotels look great!!!!!:thumbsup2 The Dis rocks!

We stayed at the Delta Ocean Pointe -- highly recommend it! The newer Marriott is quite nice too; I've never stayed there but passed by and it's very central.

As for the Empress, we've stayed there. The standard rooms are run down, worn and weary. Yes, heads of state and various VIPs stay there but they probably get "special" deluxe rooms there. We were impressed by their pool area. It's really big and very inviting. Their afternoon tea is a bit of an expensive experience at $40 pp. Their sandwiches (as they displayed it) were not that special -- basically sandwiches you can make yourself at home (i.e. cucumber, pb&j, ham sandwiches). I'm sure that most go purely for the ambiance...but for $40 pp...it wouldn't be my cup of tea :lmao:

Happy planning!
