I am looking for some help using the new FastPass system. We have been to Disney several times but this will be our first with the new system. I am not sure what attractions to reserve with FastPass.
Second, my husband and I will be taking our first solo trip with our youngest son, age 11. His brother (21) and sister (17) are both in college and dont share his school break. My son is a bit worried that Disney wont be fun with just his parents. We are a bit worried too. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Any advice is appreciated; really want to show my son he can have fun at Disney without his siblings.
We are staying at All Star Sports, my sons choice. We have a park hopper w/ water park ticket. Luck for us we were able to book with free quick service dining and upgraded to regular dining. We will have a car but husband likes using the bus system. Here is our schedule:
Saturday 9/13: Driving in after spending night in Ocala so should arrive around 10am. We will check in and then head for Epcot. My son wants his first ride to be Mission Space. In the past our family's first ride was teacups but we let him make the decision on first ride this time and we chose Mission Space. No breakfast for me that morning.
We have dinner reservations at Akershus at 5pm. Son wanted dinner in a castle and I love character meals. After dinner, planning on taking monorail to Magic Kingdom for evening parades and fireworks. Son will want to ride Splash and Space Mountains. Mom and Dad will want to ride Haunted Mansion. Will take bus back to Sports when park closes at 11pm. Do you thing we will need FPs for Epcot this day or should I save them for MK in the evening?
Sunday 9/14: Wake up and drive to Blizzard Beach which opens at 10am. We will stay until around 3pm and then head to the room and rest until 5pm. Then bus to Studios with Mama Melrose reservations at 6:15. We want to catch Fantasmic and Star Tours multiple times! Will stay at Studios until 11pm. Is 75 minutes enough time to leave Sports and get to Mama Melroses using the bus? How much time can a family spend at a water park?
Monday 9/15: Drive to Animal Kingdom for 8am opening stay until 2pm. Want to ride Everest, Safari, and see Nemo for sure. We will have a short break in our room until we leave for dinner at Boma at 5pm. Our plan is to drive to Boma and, after dinner, take the bus to Magic Kingdom stay there until 11pm closing. Then ride bus back to AKL and then drive to our resort, Sports. Given that September is a slow time, will there be a problem leaving our car and using the buses? We want to return at night to AKL so we can see the lobby at night.
Tuesday 9/16: No Parks this day. Will visit Typhon Lagoon and Disney Quest (son's choice) with dinner at either Wolfgang Pucks or Earl of Sandwich. Any advice on Disney Quest? How much time should I anticipate spending there with an 11 yr old boy? Are there any 'don't miss' attractions there?
Wednesday 9/17: Head to the Studios by bus for 9am opening and stay until 3pm. Rest in room until 5pm then head by bus to Epcot for dinner at Teppan edo at 6:40. This was son's dinner choice, really wanted Chefs de France but overruled.
Stay at Epcot until 11pm.
Thursday 9/18: Late start, son can swim and I can do laundry. No matter how much I pack I always have ended up having to visit the laundry at Disney. Have to say every time I meet the nicest women there.
Bus to Magic Kingdom in time to catch the 3pm parade. Depending on crowds, we will stay at MK before heading by monorail to Epcot where we have Coral Reef reservations at 7:20(son's choice). Will stay at Epcot until 9pm and take bus home.
Friday 9/19: Early start driving to Animal kingdom for 8am opening staying until noon or until the heat kicks in. Then drive to waterpark until it closes at 5pm. Snack and then rest in room until 7pm when we drive to Hoop de do for 8:30 reservation. I really think my son will like this.
Saturday 9/20: Drive to Studios for 8am opening, stay until 2pm. Have a short break until we drive to Wilderness Lodge at 4:30 for our 5:10 reservation at Whispering Canyon Café. After dinner, we plan on taking the ferry to the Magic Kingdom until it closes at 10pm. Will take ferry back to Wilderness Lodge and then drive back to Sports. Thought the ferry ride would be a nice way to end the trip.
I have tried get my son's input but September is too far away for him to give it much focus. Unfortunately, I need had to make ADRs!
If you have read this far, thanks and please share your Disney knowledge!
