NEED ADVICE! For my discount backup plan if renting pts falls through

Hey! So I'm planning a big trip for our family in Sept, 4 different rooms, 12 people total including grandparents and cousins, etc and we are planning to rent DVC pts. If that falls through, which I will know soon hopefully, I'm trying to figure out my backup plan. I'm hoping for Free Dining, of course. I think I've figured out already that there is no point in booking a room only reservation now to secure rooms since the package rules would apply if free dining became available for the resort we want, which would require me to cancel that room only ressie and rebook. We want the Beach Club, BTW. Should I go ahead and book a package now to secure those rooms at the Beach Club and hope free dining could be applied? Also, if we do get free dining that way, could I convert it to a ticketless package later so that I could get cheaper tickets? Or with free dining, would I have to buy the tickets from Disney? Thanks in advance!

FD requires a 2 day ticket for everyone.

If you'd go without FD, book now to get what you want. If FD is the only way you'd go, just wait.

Is have a backup resort available since that's popular during FD.

And you have to buy the tickets from Disney? Or could it be a ticketless package that I apply the free dining assuming it's available?

No, the tickets need to be on the package and will be full price. FD requires a full price room and 2 day minimum full price ticket.
