Well here I am, 25 days before the half marathon race at Disney and I am severely undertrained. Mostly because I had zero personal desire to do this. I'm not a runner. But I wanted to make my mother happy (who doesn't) and silly me signed us up for the half last March. She has been begging me to do a race with her so I said the only way I'll do it is at Disney (my sneaky little way to get her Disney aka my favorite place on earth)
Anyways, I am severely undertrained and usually tap out around 3 miles from foot and calf pains (I am thinking plantar fasciitis but I have not been actually diagnosed) My two biggest concerns are my mom and also being able to enjoy the parks pain free the following 4 days. She has this idea that I can just run off adrenaline for the last 10 miles (no). She is an amazing running imo and her plan is to run a mile and walk 4 min, repeat and I know I wont be able to keep up.
My question is should I break my moms heart and back out of the race forcing her to do it alone or should I give it a try and just get swept? How humiliating is it to get swept at mile 3? I wish I would have started my training back in March but race day is almost here and I am just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect.
