hi,
I’ll be staying at the gf for the first time with my 2 daughters, one who will be celebrating her 40 th bday.we are right gi g our autistic 4 year old grandson. He is good but can get antsy at night. It would be great if we had a room with a balcony that she could sit with him and look at lights,or anything that would be calming.any suggestions.we were initially booked at the beach club but Disney asked if we would move to gf due to extremely large convention at beach club during our stay. Same price.we booked a standard at the beach club so would expect the same at gf.

If a balcony is important to you, then the move to the GF is fortunate since most (perhaps all) GF rooms have patios or balconies whereas many of the BC rooms have those faux Juliette balconies which you cannot sit on.
Here’s the GF thread where the GF lovers will be happy to answer any questions you have. https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...villas-information-questions.3336950/page-644
I love the GF, you don’t say when you are going, but do allow time to enjoy the lobby and the pianist playing the grand piano there. Also, the Alice in Wonderland splash pad looks like it would be great for the 4 yr. old grandson.
I’d be over the moon to be upgraded from the BC to the GF, the BC is very nice, but IMO the GF is special.

I would move to the GF. AS PP said, you will have a large balcony at the GF. You will also have a larger room and have a much better chance eat a beautiful standard view at the GF. Standard rooms at the GF look at the grounds, marina, or a water area with the monorail running in the background. There are a very few that look towards another building, but even those views are not as bad as some standard views at the BC. You will NOT be looking at a parking lot, for example.

The GF will have lovely peaceful grounds for you to explore and two very nice pools. You will almost certainly have a peaceful view for your DGS at night.

Of course, being so close to the MK with a 4 year old will also be perfect! I think that you and your family will love staying at the GF for the price of a SV at the BC.

I think GF is lovely and you’ll have a wonderful time. I did want to mention that if sensory overload is a concern, we have found the lobby to be a little loud and crowded at times, especially when the orchestra is playing. Just something to be aware of. I think you’ll most likely have a balcony (I’m pretty sure most of the rooms have one) but you can always make a special room request for a room with a balcony that overlooks a quiet area of the hotel.

Also, your 4 year old might enjoy Basin White. They let my 5 year old and 2 year old pick out bath bombs to test in the store, and then we did the “make your own candle” which is basically sand art. We gave the candles as gifts from my children at Christmas and it was a huge hit.

Your family will love the Grand, and as someone who also loves the Beach Club, I think the move will be one that proves to be a perfect gift. For kids who need a break, the BC is not going to offer that. My DGD at 4 years old woulld have been overwhelmed and overstimulated by that resort, the pool, and the area in general. It is busy, and much of that energy is intentional as it replicates a resort on the eastern seaboard. It's fun, but if tranquility is what your grandson will need, the Grand is the place to be.

There are balconies and patios that will offer additional space to escape during the night, and the grounds are peaceful and inviting. The lobby can be very busy, however it is also a wonderful place to go for a respite from teh parks, especially in the afternoon when the Grand Pianist is playing. I found it to be relaxing around 3 PM. There is also a quiet sitting area in the upper level if the little guy wnat to chill and still hear the music.

The Grand Orchestra plays around dinnertime, and again, they do generate an audience, however you can relax upstairs That area is seldom occupied. I also like to go to the upstairs balcony, which is a large sitting area. It is very quiet and you can just enjoy the peaceful setting.

Again, I love the Beach Club, and it is often my chosen resort, however one of the most inviting aspects of the Grand is that you can get away from the "resort" when you go to your building. The walk actually serves to take you away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and give you a transition to the peace of your own room. Every building has a "lobby" of it's own so you can take your grandson there any time of night. It has sofas and some chairs and the doors to enter are locked, so it is also safe. There is not much of a view of course, but it is open and gives a child who may just need to move a place to stretch.

All rooms at GF have a balcony or patio and, as others have said, all have lovely views. I would suggest requesting a room in Sago Cay. It is very close to the main building, but away from the main pool. Many of the standard views in the other buildings overlook the main pool which can get quite crowded. I would suggest "Sago Cay" "highest floor" "view of monorail".
