I have gone to WDW once and that was two years ago. I learned so much from the boards...all the tips, etc. I know someone who is going next year and they want advice. Can you all give me some of the best tips that she should know? I don't think they have even begun to plan. I have forgotten alot in the past two years. Thanks!

Be sure your friend picks up one or two (or more :earboy2: ) guidebooks. My favorites are The Unofficial Guide to WDW and the Passporter.

What time of the year are they going?
Here are some general tips from my experience:

Go in the off season if you can
Stay onsite
use EMH in the evenings if they are available
See Illuminations at Epcot
See Wishes (or whatever the fireworks show is at the time) at MK
Book early and apply discounts when available
If not familiar with Disney property, use a towcar service and then Disney transportation. If booking a package take advantage of the new free Magical Express transportation Disney will be offering.
Carefully weigh the options of a package vs. booking seperately. Te package with dining might be a good deal depending on where your friend wants to eat. The rooms are rack rate in the package buy the dining might make up for that if your friend wants one sit down meal a day.

Tell her to check out Tour Guide Mike. We've been thrilled. It's a lot of info, and might overwhelm her at first, but it's probably the next best thing to haunting these boards.

There's also lots of good "tips" threads going, too....maybe you could search out a couple of those and download them for her?

Good luck!

Wear comfortable shoes (broken in...not new)

Bring moleskin for blisters

When touring Epcot, start with WS first, then take a midday break, and do
FW in the evening

USE FASTPASS

Bring a change of clothes to leave in the locker. If you get stuck in the park during a rain storm, you'll be able to change into dry clothes. The A/C CRANKS in almost all of the rides, and wearing wet clothes will make it very unpleasant.

Check the show/parade times at guest services when first arriving in the park. Schedule your tour around them.

NEVER "wander aimlessly". make a plan!
