Need advice: buying AP...what about room discounts?

We live in Michigan but want to go at least twice a year, and a third with an AP would be nice, too, if we drive or get cheap flights in the summer!

We are pretty much tied to a school schedule, minus maybe an extra Friday or Monday, so we will be going during peak times. How do I know what possible AP room discounts that we may be able to get and if they would be worth it over any possible discount with regular room discounts or free dining? Are they out as often? Are they offered during school break times too?

We really like POP and likely would never get a moderate because of the price. $150 per night is ideal, lol.

Also, we really like the convenience of the dining plan. How does the Tables in Wonderland card compare? We have a preschool princess and love the character meals.

I don't have an AP however I have looked into getting them....

It seems that the AP discounts and fl resident discounts are pretty close and offered petty much year round.

We went moderate in May it was $150 a night with the FL resident discount and since the annual pass is about the same usually like 2% better I would say its doable!!

How do I get the AP room discount if I'm not getting the annual passes until we get there?
