Hi everyone,
I need a little advice for my next disneyland trip. I just got back in February from a 5 night stay with my dh to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Now it's time to bring the kids! I have 3 different options on when to go and was wondering what everyone's opinions were on these dates:

Oct 1-5 a Sunday-Thursday
Nov 19-23 also a Sun-Thurs, but Thanksgiving is on that Thursday
Jan 2-6 a Wednesday - Saturday, but really not sure about the crowds leftover from new years and christmas

What do you all think??? I will be bringing my 7 year old and a 2 year old (well she will be two in Oct). We really would like to go at a slower time of year, but a couple of busy days aren't too bad, as long as we get a few slow days.

Any help is appreciated,
Kathy

If you can go the week before your listed date in November, that is one of my favorite times to go: It is not crowded and the Christmas decorations are up.

Otherwise, I vote for October -- it should be less crowded then. I am not sure about the January time -- I think there will still be holiday crowds leftover.

I can only make comment on your Oct 1-5 date. It's generally a slower time in terms of attendance at the parks. We went last Oct (Sept30-Oct4), and although busier than normal due to the 50th, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. However, if you plan on watching the fireworks, it only ocurred on friday and staurday night.

Your other 2 dates will definitely be busier than Oct, but you do get the benefit of holiday decorations being up.

I wish I could change my dates, but those are the times available for my son's school. He can't miss more than 6 days because he goes to a charter school and they will kick him out if you miss more than the allotted days. He does however get several weeklong breaks throughout the year though, so that's why we have these dates chosen. I am leaning toward the October one, but wondering how busy it will be with the 50th ending that Saturday before we get there.

Does anyone know how super busy it is during Thanksgiving week. I'm assuming it will be crazy on that Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Does anyone know if it is really busy on the Sat, Sun, MOn, and Tues before Thanksgiving?

Any other help??
Kathy

Oh and one of the benfits of the Oct date is, the 3 DLR properties are running a 4th night free promotion if you were interested in staying onsite.

I pick November because the holiday decorations will be up. Also, fewer rides will be in rehab.

I would avoid the Oct. dates. The 50th is ending, the million dreams is kicking off, and the crowds on the Sunday will be big because of "gay days".

I would probably pick the Jan. dates. The holiday crowds will be pretty much cleared out, and most of the holiday decor will still be up. Haunted mansion and small world may be closed the last day or two of those dates to remove the holiday lay overs. But in general its a good time to be there.

Nov would be my 2nd choice. Thanksgiving day will be busy, but the other days of your trip shouldnt be too bad.

I choose the November date. There will be more rides in rehab in the off-season, plus Haunted Mansion will also be down. In January you may get rain and you may not, but if you get rain there will be a lot. November is typically dryer, probably most, if not all the rides/attractions will be going at that time, and the park is really special at that time of year. You'll have pretty manageable crowds up until Thanksgiving, and by then you can hit the highlights & take it easy & just enjoy the day there.
