Hi everyone! I am fairly new to this board but I am hoping you can offer some advice for me. Next week we are taking our very first WDW family vacation. We are so excited! It will be myself, DH, DS (4) and DD (10 months). I have a list a mile long for all the stuff I need to bring for the baby but there are 2 issues I can't seem to come up with a solution for. Please help! PS- we are going to Magic kingdom for 2 days and AK for 1 day.

1) She still drinks formula from a bottle. I am going to use the Similac Singles (powder) and make them as she needs them but I am going to have to carry the used bottles around all day. Is there a better way? I just told DH this morning that I need to invent disposable bottles!

2) She still eats baby food....and she likes it warm. Any suggestions on how to heat her baby food while in the park? (I don't fell comfortable with asking waiters/waitresses to heat bottles/baby food)

someone told me there is a "baby center" in every park. Can anyone tell me what it has?

Thanks so much!

We took those formula singles, when our son was 11 mos and they worked great. Our son was off baby food by then though, so I can't help you with that. Do go out and get yourself some table toppers (I got mine from the right start), presterilized mats that stick to the table which makes it great to feed the baby anywhere.

I never used the baby stations. I had a super big changing pad, so I didnt have any problems changing diapers. If you can track one down on Ebay or someplace, I cant say enough about the sportbaby backpack.....(later)...OMG there is one on ebay for $3 buy it now. GO GET IT! The pad is big and its attached so you cant loose it. It has insulated pockets, and a waterproof devider inside for wet stuff. Its got an ultra handy handle on top for grabbing it out of the stroller and comfy straps that fit me and DH no problem.

And you didnt ask, but I highly recommend that you bring a front baby carrier. There are loads of places that the baby can go that the stroller can't. I say front carrier, because baby can stay in the front carrier on rides and in shows, where you would have to take off a backpack.

Here are a few ideas:

1. I believe playtex makes a bottle w/a disposable liner. You pop in a liner in bottle "frame" fill with powder and water and then put on the top. I used to use these all the time and they were great for travel. However, not all of my children liked them, so you should give them a whirl before you go.

2. To heat bottles/baby food outside of baby centers, maybe you could order 1/2 a cup of hot water, like for tea. Just an idea.

3. As the pp mentioned, a baby carrier/sling/hip hammock is very handy. There are a lot of places you need to carry baby w/o a stroller (ie: line, on rides).

4. Also, I don't know if you've read this handy tip on the board...many people ship a package to themselves at their resort w/all their baby supplies (baby formula, diapers, etc) to make travelling that much easier.

It is a lot of work to go with a baby, but it is also so much fun. They really can feel the magic!

I haven't been to Disney (YET!) with our little ones but we have traveled away from home with formula drinkers and baby food eaters. I recommend:

1. I know your daughter is on Similac, but Enfamil sells the 6 oz. nursettes that are disposable bottles (you buy the nipples separately and they're disposable too). Switching from one brand of another formula to another at 10 months shouldn't be a problem but if you're not comfortable with that, I would do as the pp stated and use the Playtex bottles. Just pack one bottle and several liners and nipples for the day and you're set!

2. As far as heating food, I would buy one of the heat/cold packs that can be found in almost any store or online. If your room has a microwave, I would heat the bottles/food before you head out for the day and tuck them in an insulated bag with the heated packs. That should keep everything warm enough for baby.

I've thought these things through as well. DS is 17 months and has just now started drinking his milk and juice cold. What a stinker! :lmao:

I use the Playtex liners the PP's mentioned and find they work great for traveling. One holder with several nipples and liners in plastic baggies and away you go!

Ds was just shy of 9 months when we went to WDW. I brought our own baby food jars, but there are grocery delivery services such as wegoshop that can do that for you (they brought us wipes, applesauce, bananas and juice). DS would eat his food without heating up (yuk, but he liked it better) so that wasn't an issue for us. I would not feel bad about asking the waitstaff to heat up the food. You will find them very accomodating and used to this age group. I also brought disposable bibs, and disposable containers for cheerios etc. As far as the bottles, I just filled the bottles with water at the hotel, and brought a container with premeasured portions of powder and mixed them throughout the day. It wasn't a big deal to rinse them out at the baby care center or wait until we got to the hotel. We usually returned for a mid day nap, so I had two bottles at the most to wash. Each park has a baby care center just look in the map to see where they are. It is a nice place to take a break, change diapers, feed the baby and stay out of the heat.

My daughter was 10 months on our last trip. We just rinsed the dirty bottles in the rest rooms and then washed them out thoroughly back at the villa. You will want to pack a new bottle washing brush and some dish soap to bring with you so that you are able to wash them out well.
We brought baby food to the parks and the baby are it without it being heated. Don't forget to bring a spoon with you. Our baby actually didn't eat much baby food at all on the trip, she wanted real food and we let her have it. You can probably heat the food up at a baby care center though. We never used them, but I hear they are good.

Our son was 8 months on our trip last year.

We brought the playtex disposable liners with us and made up the bottles at the hotel. We would rinse out the nipple in the baby care center.

The centers are AWESOME! They have comfy chairs for feeding, nice changing tables, a/c, movies, bottle warmers and (maybe) a microwave.

I would just ask your server for a cup of hot water and place the jar in it to warm it up. I never asked anyone to heat the food because you end up with hot spots since restaurant microwaves are so much more high powered.

My other tip would be to buy a colorful piece of fabric to throw over your stroller. It will shade him/her if they are sleeping and helps ID the stroller when it is parked in that crazy sea of strollers.

Have fun!

we also used the Similac singles and they worked out great. We carried one bottle already made up and another with just water in it(WDW tap water, DD had no problems w/ different water). With the used bottles we either filled it back up and mixed it right away or tucked it away and used the other one. We would wash them out when we could find a place that had hot water, but really we never ran into a situation where we were short on bottles. Just the 2 of them were enough.

DD eats her food at room temp. so I didn't have to look for a place to warm her food, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a microwave in the baby care centers. Another idea would be to run the container under hot water in a bathroom before feeding her.

PS- I remembered that we also carried a plastic water bottle so we could refill the bottles w/o having to look for a place to get more water.

We took those formula singles, when our son was 11 mos and they worked great. :thumbsup2

And you didnt ask, but I highly recommend that you bring a front baby carrier. There are loads of places that the baby can go that the stroller can't. I say front carrier, because baby can stay in the front carrier on rides and in shows, where you would have to take off a backpack.

:thumbsup2 :worship:

Ours was our saving grace!!!! Baby can do all this and stay asleep at the sametime too.:)

I've also done the Playtex disposable liners filled with water and powdered formula. My kids like their milk as well as their baby food warmed, so I just asked for 1/2 cup of hot water, dipped the bottles or food in a few minutes and we were ready to eat!!!!!

I've never used the baby care centers, but I know each of the parks have one and I hear great things about them. Good luck and have fun!!!!
