Hi everyone!

I've been reading up on ideas on what to do to celebrate birthdays at Disneyland, but most of the ideas I've seen seem geared more towards little ones. Makes sense to me - but hey! How many times does a girl get to turn 30 at Disneyland?

I'm already planning on getting a birthday button, and have ruled out the Fantasmic dessert package. Just don't want to devote that much time to getting the tickets for a good view - not a $$$ issue.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated! Also, not going to be a surprise because hey - it's my birthday!

Thanks in advance,
Melissa

I am actually going to one on the 9th. at DL for an adult. I am not sure exactly what is being done but I do know that the girl is making shirts for all of us to wear(had to give a size for myself and my dd) and we are all going to be a different character. I know I am going to be Dutchess and my dd will be Marie. I have heard we are going to have a character breakfast, going to make some cakes, and not exactly sure what else she has planned for that day. I can't wait just to go there! I have been to WDW about 6 times already but this is our first visit to DL. If I find out more about what she has planned I will let you know. I am hearing things 2nd. hand as it is my friends daughters bday. I think she is in her late 20's. Have fun and enjoy!:)

OK, this might not be what you are looking for, but it was really fun for us. :goodvibes

This spring we went to DL and told the kids that we were going to have a surprise party for our 2 adult aunties. We told each of the aunties and their kids that the party was for the other. Then, we went to the Plaza Inn birthday party. It was $10 per person and it was probably one of the best times we have ever had, especially since the aunties and their kids all live near DLR and have done EVERYTHING there is to do, except this event.

It was soooo silly!!!! The host is Patrick Edward Cake (Pat E. Cake), and he is very goofy and funny. We decorated individual cakes, had juice, wore silly birthday hats, sang happy birthday (of course) and got pictures with both Mickey and Minnie. :yay:

There were mostly kids and families there (we had four kids with us), but I saw one table with just adults. We were so busy giggling and laughing we really didn't notice the others. The aunties had a good time and were treated well by the CM's.

So, that's a pretty cheap little idea. Of course, DH was a bit mortified at first, but in the end, he ended up being the silliest of all of us.

I will be celebrating my bday @ DL but will not be in the park until the next day. Will I still be able to get a button? Do I pick one up on main street?:confused3

We took DH to DCA to the Vineyard Room. Loved it! We had a great view of the Electrical Parade. We were able to go through the Disneyland Hotel and got a birthday package delivered to the restaurant. It was a cute basket with some happy birthday things in there, a stuffed Mickey Mouse, all tied up in cellophane with curly ribbons.

It's all about celebrating your birthday. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and got a button, though it was a month after. I celebrated my birthday the week before my birthday. They just want to know what you are *celebrating*, not when the date is!

So yes, you can get a button. :)

**********

DH got me a princess birthday bucket, but I don't recommend them, especially for adults (barely for kids) b/c other than the pin, there really isn't anything in there for an adult (and I think the comb and brush are for *babies* not little girls, so really, it's not very useful IMO). And the cake they put in it is awful, IMO.

If I were going for my b'day and wanted a shindig, I would...want a big giftcard with time to shop on my own, LOL. I'd want dinner at...well my fave food there is at Royal St. Veranda (vegetarian gumbo), but I loved loved the Mickey beignets at Cafe Orleans so that's a split-up meal. See, it's all very subjective, so this is hard! If someone else, not attached to my bank account, were buying, I'd like a brew over at DCA.

Yeah, this is too subjective for me to answer in a helpful manner. Sorry! :upsidedow

i drove the big white boat (forgot the name), so i could log in as the captain on my birthday. i had done it on my 10th birthday, so it was fun to do it again 20 yrs later. the CM told me that they do have all the logs saved, so that made it special knowing that on my name was in there on my birthday twice. i plan on trying again on my 50th.

Why let the kids have all the fun? :)

Pilot the river boat. Ride your favorite ride 5 times back to back. Have a Plaza Inn party. Get a couple party hats before you go and get characters to pose with you wearing them. Tell absolutely everyone that it's your birthday. Ask waiters to sing to you.

We do not go to DL to be all sophisticated and mature and suave. Indulge your inner child and wallow in silliness!:cloud9:

How about a ride around the park in the beautiful Lilly Belle? That will really make you feel special! You'll need to board at the Main Street train station. Ask the CM at the turn stile if the Lilly Belle is running and if you can ride for your birthday. A CM has to ride with you so they may ask you to return at a specific time when they have enough conductors on duty. You'll feel like a VIP for sure!

Does getting a birthday button get you any perks. We'll be there on Monday and my birthday is the following Saturday. We're not celebrating my birthday, just happen to be there close to the time.

It gets you lots of Happy Birthdays, even from fellow guests!

Other than that, no, I've never gotten anything special. I think that some have, some little thing, but by no means is it supposed to happen. Just good wishes and a little souvenir (the button with your name on it).

We've been to DLR so many times - If we are celebrating birthdays, I just usually mention when I'm making my ADR's. Nothing is ever guaranteed - but a couple of perks we received was a cool ice cream dessert from Blue Bayou (for DF) and once we got a Birthday Dessert from Ariell's Grotto for DD.

Ummm, there's a bar in Ariel's Grotto?? Where exactly is that? We've been there 3 times this year and I've never seen a bar......upstairs maybe?

We got the bucket for my DD8 on her b-day, she liked it and is keeping it. She uses the brush/comb set but she has to brush her hair for real first. LOL The worst part was her pin broke!!!! We had the birthday hat with the light up candles for her to wear and she got a bunch of pins for gifts, we added the birthday bucket pin to her hat and it broke!! My DBF walked back to the Grotto and traded it for a new one. The new one seems to be doing fine! :)

Thanks for all of the great suggestions! This will only be my third trip to
DL ('89, '06, '08), and for my two girlfriends, it will be their first, so I don't think just sitting and relaxing someplace is a good choice for us. If it was WDW - no question! I've been there a lot more often!

Please keep the suggestions coming! Thanks!
