Okay - so I'm choked. We bought on a whim when we were down there as we have to sign up in Florida (we are from Alberta) - are we out of luck?? Because of this I'm thinking of now cancelling out and not even closing on the deal and seeing what the deals are next time we go. $15 per point is a lot of money....

Based upon your $15 per point comment, I suspect you are looking at a lot of older comments in this thread. The referral discount LAST year was $15 off.

This year it's the standard $8 off at AKV or $10 off at Saratoga Springs (which you should have already received.) The only difference this year is that if you bought at least 225 points AND have the name of a current DVC member to use as a referral, you will get a one-time bonus of 160 additional points.

If you bought at least 225, you might want to get the name of a member to use as a referral and call your Guide to see if the deal can be changed. Even though they are prohibited from selling in your area, they may still be able to amend the deal since technically you began the process while in Florida.

It is impossible to know or guess what the next incentive will be. The general rule, though, is that price per point ONLY goes one way....UP.

Think of this way...with the Canadian dollar performing so well against the American dollar right now, you are already getting a GREAT deal. Even if you had purchased back when the $15 off per point was available, you are saving more money today (with the $8 off) due to the exchange rate.

Thanks for the info - we can't amend anything after we have left - I'm sure once DL DVC is up and selling they will register in Alberta, but for now we are stuck. That's okay - I was bummed for a little bit, but am still excited about it. Funny thing is that resellers are registered to sell in Alberta, just not Disney. Doesn't make any sense to me but obviously it does to Disney...

It's not uncommon for DVC to offer extra incentives to people who buy at DLR. With no resort on-site (yet), selling points at DLR is considered a slightly bigger challenge.

The same is often true of promotions offered on DCL cruises and occasionally at the Chicago sales center.

Dont see anything funny about it at all.So wondering what the rude comment was about.
I have referred lots of people over the last 6 years and have never gotten any referral bonuses,about 10 from here on the Disboards because NC was ineligible for the referral bonus.
But now itis eligible why wouldnt someone want some Disney dollars?
