Yes, she got possessed because she was playing with a Ouija board. Wasn't the 'person' she talked to Captain Howdy?

If I remember she was "sick" like just a virus thing and then it got worse.. I would consider it a social horror film. Hope it helps.
Regan played with Ouija board by herself and she named it -- BIG NO NO.
I remember standing on line for 2 1/2 hours to see it in 20 degree weather in January of the year it came out...
then I didn't get to sleep on my own until my birthday in MARCH!!!![]()
I remember the mother was an atheist, which I was at the time, and thought I'd get possessed because I was!!! I would lay in bed waiting for my head to rotate!!! UGH!!!
Do you only want to know about the movie or that actual events that inspired it? Cause they are pretty different.

How did the little girl, Reagan get possessed. What was the reason?

Just curious did naming it cause the possession or is b/c she accepted it by naming it.
I guess my question is ..and I am afraid to ask it after reading this article, why is it only the Catholic Priest could perform the ritual....could it not be performed by any Christian AND how about primitive tribes who believe that some of their members are possesed....while the article is informative I just wonder if it is slanted with the underlying message, Catholic is the only true religion so that is why the Protestant (Lutherin minister)sent the boy to a priest and in the end he was for all intents and purposes saved when he was baptized Catholic.
I am not asking this question to start an argument I am just curious b/c as i said the article seemed very slanted.
