I love it when they give you ONE days notice to come up with these stupid outfits!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea what to put on her!!!!! Does anyone have any ideas or know of where I can buy anything that might work????????:confused3

thanks so much for the help!!!!!!!!!!!

long floral skirt, white blouse and a scarf folded into a triangle over her head as a head scarf. That might work

Go to Goodwill and see if you can find an old prom dress that will work.

DD had to dress like Laura Ingalls Wilder a few months ago. They had to read a biography and do a presentation dressed like their person. I went to Goodwill and found a long floral dress for $2.00. I made an apron out of the existing sash from the dress and a bit of off white cotton fabric. I used iron on seam tape to put everything together. I did have a few weeks notice so I bought a prairie bonnet from ebay for about $10.00. I do think that the head scarf previously mentioned would work great.

DS had a "pioneer day" at school a couple of weeks ago. A lot of the girls were in florals as others had mentioned. But others were in conservative solid color dresses/jumpers (church dresses) with dark tights and sturdy shoes.

We were given more notice than you were but I totally forgot (my fault) until the day before. I had to scramble to find something for DS!

Do you have a shawl or a fringed scarf that she could wrap around her shoulders? My DD had to be an "immigrant" (studying Ellis Island) this year and she wore one of my longer skirts (calf length on me, almost floor length on her). That would work, too.

If you don't have a sun bonnet, you could use a straw hat or just put a pretty hairbow in her hair. They wore those a lot back then.

If you can, pack her lunch in a basket or pail with a cloth napkin over the top to keep it all together.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!! Now what about something for my son??? He just informed me that he has to dress up too!!!!!! CRAP!!!!!!!:headache:

I think what boys typically wear for that is:
Dark pants or jeans
Suspenders
White Shirt or plaid shirt
Hat with a wide brim all the way around (kind of an Amish-type hat)
Boots

Or you could go with coonskin cap, neckerchief around the neck, vest instead of suspenders....those all look kind of "pioneer" if you can find them.

Jeans
heavy boots
suspenders or vest
some marbles in his pocket
pick a timeframe and where his character lives, have him look the news of that era up, he can talk about it like "The big railroad made it all the way across the country. It took us two months to get to our homestead and now folks c'n get here in less than a week! Now that's progress!" and so on.

I would suggest a slingshot in his other pocket but those are probably prohibited on school-grounds.

agnes!

When my son did it he went with jeans, flannel shirt and coon skin hat. I also took an eyebrow pencil and gave him a beard. This was in 2nd grade, he was so cute. :)
