Help! I have a camping trip planned at the end of this month. I just realized today that I scheduled a conference call while I'm there. And of course, we don't have phones at the campsites.

Does anyone know where I could find a land line to make a call, that would be quiet? I will be on the phone for about 2 hours. (Its a 800 #)

Please help! I don't want to cancel my trip and I don't want to be on the cell for 2 hours either.

Many thanks.

I know there is a "house" phone at every comfort station... but maybe go to the lobby of WL and use house phone there.???? Other than that, maybe call ftw and ask a cm.

The comfort stations all have land lines but I doubt they would be quiet enough. I would call the Fort Wilderness front desk or Disney guest services and ask them where it would be easiest to find somewhere to work, I am sure they have areas for exactly what you are planning. My guess would be the Contemporary as the closest.

Is there a house phone in the "internet cafe" above the check in stations??

Most pay phones won't let you dial an 800#. I think Gator has it right, buy a pay as you go phone, with enough minutes, to get your call done.

I would look to places that cater to convention crowds, like the Contemporary Resort, to look for a business setting. I don't see links to it any more, but I seem to recall that they used to have an area set aside for business travellers.

While the pay as you go phone seems like a convenient choice, I have had two cell phones overheat and melt some important circuits while on long conference calls (once while sitting at my desk and I politely asked the client to allow me to call back from the office line - you know the type, this will only take a minute...90 minutes later the low batt signal is going off and I could barely hold the phone). If it has to be a cell, I would consider a headset to keep the phone away from the side of the head. Otherwise, you might find yourself with signs of brain damage, daydreaming of camping at Fort Wilderness, drooling over thoughts of Kungaloosh, trying to figure out how to buy a golf cart and wondering how to strap it to a bike rack on the roof of your trailer...:rolleyes1

Here is what I do. I use a headset with my phone and it is plugged into the charger (Palm Treo 650 or Motorola Q). That eliminates the heat in my hand and the dead battery problem and it leaves my hands free for taking notes and etc. I make the call from my own RV and send the family off for a swim or some other adventure. I hope this helps but everyone's situation is different.

I am a network engineer with a defense contractor. I really don't get vacations just limited duties from remote locations.

Happy Camping!

Go to the Contemporary they have a business loinge with internet access and phones for use by business/convention travellers. It will be quiet and you don't have to worry about a cell phone dying on you during your call. Just ask at teh front desk where the area is located they will direct you there and all will be fine. Come to think of it you could also go to the WL and use the house phone in the DVC wing as it tends to be very quiet over there also.

I've had to do this many times during our stays at FW. I always go over to the business center at The Contemporary. Very convenient and quiet.
