We have a trip booked for this August. The plane tickets are already paid for but we haven't paid for the actual trip yet.

Looking through our finances and what needs to be done around the house, we decided that we most likely won't be doing WDW this year. The tickets are still good till next year, so we will probably just go next year and have more time to save for that.

As a logical, rationale, responsible adult, I agree with my husband's points and I agree that the smart thing to do would be to refinish the floors in the house instead of going on a 5 day vacation.

But the child inside of me is kicking and screaming and having a hissy fit, lol.

Most likely, we will wind up taking off for a few days maybe to Hershey Park in PA, or just spend afew days up in NH and go camping. Whatever.

Things may change..we aren't calling and cancelling just yet. We have until Jly 4th to pay for the trip so anything could happen. So, I dunno. I just a pep talk, tell me to stop being a baby and not dwell on it or something. :)

Let it go. Next year will be better, because you won't have the guilt of not using the money to improve your home. And maybe you can save a little extra and splurge on something that isn't in the budget for this year's trip, as a reward for being a grown up.

Though I hear your inner child ;) - sometimes being a grown up is poopy. :guilty:

Our first family trip ever was planned for Jan 07... it was a HUGE trip no expense spared. I had alot of it paid for but still a cpl thousand to go. We had some big expenses come up so after much soul searching , we postponed until Oct 07. I kept the money down that i had already paid. I cried and pouted , but in the end glad i did.

You will be glad you ended up doing that too, but yeah i know that just SUCKS being an adult lol.

*stomping foot and pouting* along with you!

Look at the bright side, maybe you can go longer next time around.. which is what we did!!! Extended it to 10 nights woo hoo!

Thanks, and you and the above poster are right, with more time, it should be better and longer, yes!

We have been putting off redoing the floors (hardwood and scratched up BAD) since we bought the house almost 3 years ago. Every month or so I look down and say..Damn..we need to get the floors done. So I guess we should be doing that.

The big change is that the last time we went to WDW, my younger 2 were under 3yrs old..so they were free and since the little one was still an infant, we could stay at a Value with a crib. Just a few short years later, and the price increase of having to pay for them makes a big difference.

Being a responsible adult IS poopy. lol

I agree, next year you can ADD days!! I also agree with being a responsible adult being poopy....totally poopy. Hang in there. Who knows, maybe you won't need to cancel afterall...
