Need a new stove...

and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. We're not looking for anything fancy or expensive (800-900 range), and it has to be electric. Do people have a preference for either smooth top or coil burners? We were thinking of either Sear's or GE. Would love to hear reviews!!

If you have to have electric, I highly recommend a flat-top. We were given one and replaced our coil electric stove. It is fantastic! It is so easy to clean. For us, it becomes an extension of our counter, when we are not cooking on it.

We now have gas in our house for heat. We can convert our stove to a gas stove but we won't. I will buy another smooth cook top stove when we need to replace ours.

Another vote for the flat-top. No more coils to clean and scrub! Makes clean-up so much easier.

Thanks! Have you had any problems with things not heating evenly or spills cooking on?

We have a flat top stove too and love it. Everything cooks evenly and we never have to worry about cleaning under coils. I would never want the coil burners again. If something spills, you can just wipe it up.
