Need a New Mattress...Help!

I got a Sterns and Foster 10 years ago and it feels like its brand new. I LOVE it and will never buy another brand. Well...never say never, but it would have to be downright amazing to beat this one. Before this I had every kind of mattress you could think of. This one is not sagging in the middle, is soft yet firm so it doesnt hurt our backs, it IS a pillowtop and again it looks like it was just delivered. I have never had so many of my friends sit on my bed, only to lay down on it and then not want to get up and they ask me what IS this mattress, its the best thing I have ever been on.
They are a little more but considering I was paying for a new mattress every 5 years... it has more than saved me my money.

Our Sterns and Foster has not held up. I may try a Beautyrest next time.

DH and I are pooh-sized. We recently bought a Stearns and Foster and got a good sale price. DH did some research and found that the coils are heat sealed and keep their shape and bounce back longer. Also, we avoided pillowtops because you just end up sinking into the pillowtop over time. We have had the mattress set 4 months now and still really like it.

Original Mattress Factory is the only way I will buy a mattress. We couldn't be happier with ours, and when it comes time for our son to have a bed, his will be OMF, too. The prices and quality are the best.

Ditto this. I bought a Sterns & Foster "Plaza" editon. Big pillow top! Amazingly comfortable in the store...9mths later, grooves & valleys where DH & I sleep. Now, 5 yrs later, it's like there's a hill in the middle. LOL $2500 down the drain!! I didn't go expecting to buy a bed, let alone spend that much! Damn impulse buys!!

I don't know if it's a reflection on Sterns & Foster or pillow tops. My mom bought a much smaller pillow top the same day & hers is like new (don't remember the brand)! And she only spent $1500!

I do know I'll never buy a pillow top again...at least not a big one. I have to say though, that aside from the valleys, it is comfy. I am pooh sized, and find other beds so uncomfy & can't wait to get home from vaca to sleep in my bed.

OP here...update... we went into the Select Comfort store and had them give us a "tour". My hubby fell in love with their beds and has been pushing me to buy one ever since. I am still undecided. I find it hard to believe those air chambers and foam hold up well and they are not exactly budget friendly. I am thinking we will just buy a coil mattress and worry about it again in another 5-10 years.

I live in CT and the closest OMF is in Pittsburgh, PA. Can I order it over the phone or online and have it shipped or do you have to go to the store? I know most people would like to lay on it and test it first, but I'm just curious.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I wouldn't buy one without testing it, though.

We bought a sleep number earlier this year and LOVE it. I was skeptical and it took a little getting used to, but my aches ad pains have significantly decreased. I used to wake up so stiff and could never really sleep in because I'd wake up in pain. My tailbone pain is gone and I can sleep in no problem(when my schedule allows!).
I have some health professional discount coupons (I think 20% off) PM me your address if you'd like one.

Not pooh sized but we have a pillow top from Original Mattress Factory and LOVE it.

Original Mattress Factory mattresses are just about the only ones left in the market that ARE flippable. I figure if the pillow top ever does wear out, I can just add a foam topper to it down the road.

They were really easy to work with, no pressure sales at all. Every mattress in our house is now by them.

Another fan here! Just got ours a few weeks ago and love it! Especially love the double side pillow top. My parents have had theirs for 2 years and have no problems with the pillowtop, as my dad is pooh sized.

DO NOT GET A LATEX MATTRESS!

DH and I are pooh sized, and we purchased a latex mattress 2 years ago. after 18 months we had it waranteed, and they gave us another one. After 6months, my back and shoulders are hurting again, and I am ready to call the store and have them send us a non-latex mattress.

Are there any Tempurpedics that do not make you hot?

We have a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed (the i9 to be exact), and we totally love it. Like most couples, we have different sleep numbers, and we both love how we can customize to our own comfort. Both of us sleep much better and much sounder. We don't wake up with back pain like we used to with our old mattress. I used to toss & turn all night, but now I fall asleep and stay asleep through the night most of the time. These beds are expensive, but we bought ours last summer when the i9 was on sale 50% off retail. It was cheaper to get that one on sale than one of the cheaper models at full price. Even at full retail price, we think this mattress is worth the price!

I don't know about Tempurpedics being hot, I don't remember ever having any problem with ours that way. Maybe if you use the mattress pad they give you when you buy (or maybe we had to purchase it), it "blocks" the heat (at least I think that's how it's supposed to work). Although we have central air now, which we never used to, so maybe that makes a difference and we just don't notice it, I don't know....:)

What brand Latex mattress did you get? We got a Latex mattress from a mattress factory and love it like no other we ever owned. We both have back issues and we have not woke up with back pain since buying it either. I know they had different Latex densities. We have the hardest density at the bottom with 2 inches of a med/soft density on top of that.

We love our temperpedic. It has been a real back saver. Prior to that purchase, I used to go to the chiropractic about 6-7 times per year. I have not been since the temperpedic.

Sleep Number bed ALL THE WAY!!! My husband and I are bigger people. We have actually purchased two of these beds. We upgraded, and put the other in the spare room. Can't say enough about these beds. As for your concern about them holding up in 5 years....something to think about....the bed comes completely apart. If there is a section that is wearing more than the others, you can just replace that part. Their warranty is 20 years. Their customer service is great. We had a couple of issues, not major, with our first one, and just had the parts replaced. I will not ever buy another kind of mattress. Well worth it!

We got a vera wang latex from Serta a couple weeks ago. i LOVE the bed. Didn't really want to go with a designer name but once I tried it I was in love. I tested a ton of different beds, I really wanted the Westin Heavenly but the Vera Wang one is amazing. Not too soft. DH is a bigger guy and I used to feel every move he made, now he can get out of bed and I don't even notice.

DH and I really wanted a Tempur-Pedic, but could not afford one at the time. After research, we went with a Jameson memory foam mattress. They are the company that serves Marriott hotels and you can buy the mattresses only through the Jameson corporate office in Georgia. However, the mattresses are just as comfy, were delivered and set up for no extra charge, and were less than half the price of Tempur-Pedic. We've had them four years and I still sigh every night when I slide in!
