We are trying something new next year and going earlier in the month of October. We have been twice previously during the last week of October, but in 2006 we are going October 15-21 (Sunday-Thursday). We want to be able to go to F&W and MNSSHP.

My wishful thoughts are that the crowds will be lighter because Colubus Day weekend will be over and Halloween will still be 10 days away from the day that we leave.

So, since I have never been this early in October I am not real sure of what to expect as far as crowds go. We just got back from a week at BCV 11/29-12/5 so I do have something to compare recent crowd size to.

Thanks!
Mel

I definitely think crowds will be lighter, but you will more than likely have a good deal of rain. We used to go that time of year but moved it back further in the month since sept. and early to mid oct seem to still get those downpours. Who knows what the hurricane season will bring. That is when the member cruise starts...dare i mention hurricanes? All in all, i think it will be a good time for lower crowds, still warm enough to swim, just may have to dodge a few raindrops but that's always the case at disney !

I would probably just choose a week in October that doesn't include Halloween. Columbus Day isn't much of a holiday anywhere other than New York so I don't really see it influencing crowd sizes much one way or another. Hurricane wise I think I'd be more inclined to pick the 22nd over the 15th. If you are doing Sunday through Thursday you'd be out of there before the crowds pick up for the near Halloween MNSSHP's. But the other part is...if you are thinking of doing Food and Wine you might want to pick the time period that has the most interesting activities that you want to do.

We were there the 3rd full week of October last year, and while crowds were busier at Epcot World showcase, I didn't think they were bad anywhere else. Prepare for the possiblity of rain though.

no need to worry,
we were there 10/15 - 10/22 this year, great time to go, crowds were light in MK, weather was perfect 82* no rain, except a couple of dribbles one evening. I thought it was a great week to go, as a matter of fact we're probably going the same time next Oct.
