My DD10 is having a rough year- nothing major, just a lot of bad timing. She had the flu in Oct and we had to cancel our Disney trip (her sister had it too) and during the same time, she missed her solo in the musical she had been working for weeks on. Now, she is sick again and one of her best friend's birthday party is tomorrow and I just had to call and tell them she couldn't come. She has been really looking forward to the party because the girls are in different class on differnt hallways this year and rarely see each other at school. She's just so sad today and she is feeling more lousy as the day goes on. Hopefully this will pass soon and she will start to feel better. Her school's holiday concert is Friday and she has a duet and I hope she doesn't miss it too. Thanks.

Poor thing! It sounds like she has had a run of bad luck. I hope she's feeling better soon! :wizard:

I hope she doesn't miss the next concert. That's too bad about the party! Maybe you can suggest that she invite the friend over next weekend to go to the movies or hang out or something?

Hope she feels better soon!

Maybe you can plan a date with her friend, when she's better and they are free. Anything they like, a movie or just going out for a burger or pizza. That may cheer her up, and she can give her friend a birthday gift late.

I took her and two friends out for a "Twilight" girls night just last evening. I found inexpensive Edward and Jacob t-shirts and "Twilight" chocolate bars at the store about a week ago. We had a great time and it was even fun for me to have a girls night..... (I even found out who my DD has a crush on at school...:rotfl: Maybe I bought my way into the 'in' crowd.)
Your DD might be a little young for that particular movie craze, but let her pick a movie and make an event of it.
