Need a Little Help

I have to admit upfront that I am not a big Universal fan. Don't dislike it, just prefer WDW. However, I am the Club Director at my office and I do get 2 free admissions per year. My hubby has not been to Universal in a while and has not seen things like Twister, Terminator, etc.

We are flying into Orlando on a Friday afternoon in October. Arriving around 3:00 or so. Do you think we would have enough time on a Friday evening to hit the highlights? There will be 3 of us, so I will need to purchase 1 ticket. I figured that the cost of one ticket would not be bad for an afternoon and evening entertainment. We had originally planned on spending the evening at DTD, but for the cost of 1 ticket, Universal might be a better alternative.

My question is, where can I find Universal's hours of operation for the time that I am there? I am not savvy in how to check on Universal. Also, where can I find ticket prices, etc. If the Park closes too early it would not be worth the cost of even one ticket if we didn't arrive until 4:00 or so.

I saw the link at the top of the page and it looks like Universal is only open until 7 that Friday and that a one-day ticket would cost $50.00 I do have the fan club card, not sure what discount that gives. However, I don't think that $50.00 for 3 hours max is worth it, even for 3 people. Not sure how many attractions we could get into a 3-hour timeframe.

I do remember when I was there once before that the posted closing time was say 6:00 and they were actually open until 8:00 when they did the boat race/fight in the lagoon. Is this typical for Universal?

I've seen them keep the parks open longer than the stated hours also, but it doesn't happen frequently and I definately wouldn't count on it.

Have you considered trying out IOA instead of USF? There are probably more new things for you to try out there and some of the better stuff is fairly near the entrance (ie, Spiderman, Hulk, Suess Landing).

You might also want to try going to a guest services window and try to negotiate a slightly lower price if you get there within 2 hours of closing. I had a friend in town and actually was successful in getting him a decent discount for a couple hours at IOA.
