My DD received a Kindle and is hesitant about traveling with it until she gets a cover.

If you have a Kindle cover would you mind sharing with me the brand, where you bought it and what you like most about it? She is thinking one with a reading light would be nice. (she would like to buy 2 covers actually; one with a light and one without.)

Thanks!

I also have an Medge cover, they have many great covers to choose from!

I have an M-Edge that I love. No light but that's actually good for me. Though there is a fantastic little spot to put a M-Edge light in it.

I eventually want an Oberon.

I have the amazon kindle cover with the integrated light and love it. There is a whole section on kindle accessories on the kindleboards if you want to do more extensive research.

It has a retractable reading light built into it. The light is powered by the kindle battery. I love not having store a separate light in my bag. The cover is not too heavy and it can be held like a book or you can fold the top of the cover back behind the kindle so that you can read with one hand.

Not cheap, but really stunning, I've got to go with KaseyC here. The Oberon covers are true works of art.

I'll third the Oberon covers. I have one for myself (for a Nook but same difference really) and love it. I bought a different cheaper cover for middle DS for his device and was so disappointed in the quality that I'm returning it. I ordered him an Oberon cover. Worth every penny. The only drawback is there is little to no way to store a light inside it.

BTW - the guy at B&N said that used to sell the Oberon notebooks and now they have people coming into the store requesting the Oberon covers for the Nook.

I'm partial to M-Edge. I have two...

My first was the M-Edge GO! Kindle Jacket.

It's a great cover. I like how low profile it is.

My second is the M-Edge Platform Kindle Jacket.

This is a flip-top jacket, which I find makes it easier to hold the jacket (which I feel is easier than holding the Kindle while reading). I suppose it would also be good standing on its own (though I don't use that capability). The Platform jacket is a bit beefier than the GO jacket (which may translate into more protection).

Both covers are animal-friendly.

Both covers work with (the same) M-Edge e-Luminator booklight (sold separately - note that there are two booklights: The e-Luminator and the e-Luminator2. The e-Luminator2 is for the Kindle DX covers. The original e-Luminator is the one you want for the regular Kindle 3s.)

I bought both covers through amazon.com.

I've looked into Oberon covers, but they're not animal-friendly.

Picked up a super nice one at Target...leather, designed for the Kindle 3, and was $25. Very happy with it. The kindle fits like a glove in it, and it looks nice too.

I forget the brand, but it was the only leather one they had at my SuperTarget.

I have the medge cover (pink Trip one) and eluminator light combo and LOVE it.

I leave the light at home when I know I'm not going to need it and I like not having the light drain the kindle battery (uses AAA battery and lasts 10+ hours).

It was a difficult choice though.

I have an Oberon cover- the one with the wolf on it. They are pricey but beautiful and they are handmade in this country.

I have the Oberon Tree of Life and it's absolutely beautiful and very durable. The pictures on their website do it no justice. I've had it for about a year now and it still looks brand new.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like M Edge and Oberon are the best of the best...we will take a look at both brands.

I have this one as well and love it! My son got a Nook for his birthday and is upset that there is not a cover like this for the Nook.
