OK I'm having second thoughts about eating at Kimonos on 5/20 so I'm looking for other suggestions or even encouragement to eat at Kimonos.

I've got a great 5 night trip planned for next week and the theme is doing NEW things. :cheer2: So as part of this I've decided to only eat at places I've never eaten before. Here are my current ADRs so you can see what I've got planned so far:

Bistro de Paris, Jiko, The Plaza(lunch), California Grill and The Beirgarten.

But I'm stuck on where to eat on my MGM day. I've eaten at all of the sit down restaurants at MGM so i was thinking of walking/boating over to the Swan/Dolphin and trying out Kimonos for sushi. The problem I'm having with this is the sushi at California Grill really looks good and I might want to have that instead of Kinomos...but then I also think I can have sushi at home so why get that at WDW and the California Grill probably has great non sushi items too.

So, do any of you have any suggestions on where I should try on my MGM day?

My favorite at MGM is Hollywood Brown Derby. Have you considered Blue Zoo in the Dolphin? This is one of Todd English's Rest. It is just wonderful.

Thanks, maybe I will try Blue Zoo. I currently don't have an ADR for that day so hopefully I can get in somewhere.

I do like the Brown Derby but since I've eaten there a few times I can't eat there and still stick with the trips theme. :)

What about Il Muno (sp?) at the Swan? Or Yachtsman at the Yacht Club? Or the many restaurants at the Boardwalk?

I really enjoyed Spoodles on our last trip. The food was excellent, as was the service. Their garlic shrimp are huge and the chocolate-apricot-pistaccio cake with raspberry gelato was wonderful!

I was going to suggest the same thing. Spoodles is great - highly consistent - never had a bad meal there.

But you didn't say if this was for lunch or dinner - I think Spoodles is only open at dinner. For lunch, Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club has great sandwiches/burgers and icecream.

If you do go to Kimonos, be sure to try an Island Punch. Very yummy! :thumbsup2

We enjoy Mama Melrose in MGM, but if you are looking to leave the park I agree with the other suggestions here of trying something on the BW or at a resort. For a nicer meal I would choose Yachtsman Steak House, or a casual meal, ESPN.

Well, if you don't mind leaving MGM then I had a lovely lunch at Fresh (Dolphin) when we were there last month! DD18 was at the spa and I hung out at the pool all morning and decided at the last minute to try Fresh. I'm very glad I did! They are open for breakfast and lunch (not dinner).

We were there 2 weeks ago and they were having a character dinner there...we saw Mickey and Pluto

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Spoodles would be great except it's usually one of my must do places so I've been there alot.

It will be a dinner meal and I plan on going back to MGM for Fantasmic later that night. So for right now I think I'm going to keep myself open for the evening and decide that day. If I skip the sushi at the California Grill I may do Kimonos, Blue Zoo does sound nice and I Munio(sp) might be good also, maybe even the Yachtsman. I plan on wearing good jeans and a polo shirt that day so I would probably meat the dress code for those places. Fresh sounds nice but I don't think I want a character dinner.
