Need a good sewing/embroidery machine

My mom has said that she wants a sewing/embroidery machine for Christmas and I am trying to help my dad pick one out.


We know NOTHING about them!

We have a Joann and Hobby Lobby in town, are these good places to get them?

What kind should we get?

Please help us out!

You should definitely post this under the Disboutiquers thread on the Disney for Families Board. Those ladies know everything and can give you ideas based on your price range.

If you want a good one, be prepared to pay $$$$. My mom, sister and I all own Pfaffs. I would visit a sewing machine dealer, rather than Joanns. Also, there's a good thread over on the Family board for people who sew. That would be a good place to ask.

I purchased a quantum futura several years ago from http://www.singertexas.com/

right now the new ones are $599.

it is very easy to use & has a great help group on yahoogroups.
patterns are very easily found & downloaded from the internet. many are free finds.

the others are made with plastic parts and will need maintence and replacement parts with use.
