Need a good response for "You're going AGAIN?"

I'm very lucky... I work at a small-ish company (about 130 folks) and there are a core group of us hard-core dis freaks who support each other through the sideways stares and eye rolls of other colleagues. That's what ya' need to do. Find the other closet disney freaks hiding around you and draw your strength from them.

Oh yeah - and just tell those who ask stupid questions like 'You're going again' that the only reason you're going back is to get away from them. Then give 'em a big raspberry. And maybe a wedgie.

My husband and I have been trying to come up with an explanation that our parents and grandparents will "buy" regarding our end of Aug/ Sept 07 trip that was secretly booked in April but no one but us know about. We went in Sept 05 with my DS5 at the time and had a blast. In Jan 07 I had a unexpected business trip and we added on 2 extra days at Disney with our DD2 and DS 7 and it just was not enough! We really wished we had stayed longer. So to soothe our Disney withdrawals we said that we would start plannning a family trip in Sept 2008, my MIL said she needed lots of advanced notice, she runs a family business . Our grand parents ( a very young 85) became so excited and also wanted to be included as well as an aunt , uncle adn cousins.
After a long New England winter listening to our 2 yr old daughter telling us nightly that she dreams of castles, and disney fireworks. When the free dining was offered it became too much to resist and another trip - this year! It is a splurge but I feel I deserve it. I know some family members are not going to be happy we are sneaking down without them. I may tell them it is another unexpected business trip but it really does not feel right lying about going to Disney.

so if you take this trip are you not going to go on the big family trip in Sept 2008? That might require some delicate explaining to avoid hurting feelings and such...but If you are still planning to go in 2008, you just tell disgruntled family members that Free dining became available for this time frame only, you've decided to go and that's that!

When someone asks why we are going to go to Disney again I ask them
what do you like to do on vacation?

swim n fun in the sun - Disney has that and 2 waterparks + WNW

relax - you can do that too!

go out to eat at nice places - Disneys got it!

shows and movies - got it!

bars and clubs - has that too!

shopping - lots of that!

horseback riding - yep!

rides - of course for young and old!

close to beaches, fishing and boating ect...

Most people come back with a response where I can say...

DISNEY HAS THAT AND WAY MORE!

I do think people that give us a hard time are jealous.
Ive had people tell me that I cant afford it! LOL
or
You must be rich! No, just a good planner with a budget!

My DH said let go somewhere else. I said ok where? He hasnt come up with an answer in 4 years! lol He knows I will say, "Well Disney has that."

For us, it's never a question of go to disney at this time or that time. It's always just - let's go both!

My DH didn't get it at first when we first started planing our honeymoon and I said Disneyworld. Then we went and he was hooked, just not quite as much as me. Now this year, we are going on our 10th trip together and my 14th overall. My sons 7th and daughters 4th. They are 8 and 4 respectively. We all love it sooo much and know there is always something new and exciting to do and to go on all the old favorites and new favorites.

My MIL just doesn't get it. She would always ask what we are doing for vacation this year and we would say WDW. "She would be like how can you go there again and again every vacation. That must be so boring!" WHAT? Obviously she has no clue!:confused3

I hate sand and would much, much rather have an exciting, fun, and always something to see and do vaction instead of sitting in sand that will be stuck on me for weeks after my vacation as a reminder of what a boring vacation and waste of my money. NO, I say! It's Disney for me and my family agrees every year we can go. End of story!:rotfl:

Someone asked my daughter why we keep going back and she said "Because they like the food!...they spend the entire time eating!":rotfl:

I normally get this from my mom, who I now work with. I answer with a question. "So mom, when are you and Dad going to Estes Park CO, this year." They go every year, and it usually stops the questioning.

Like you, I work at a small-ish company too. I have 1 co-worker who is a Disney nut like me and it's great. It's like we have our own private club. I went to WDW first, then she went...now I'm going to DL and she's going when I get back. She wears her Mickey sweat-shirt, and I wear my WDW t-shirt. It's a good thing that our office is so laid back or we wouldn't know what to wear to work. :rotfl:

It's funny because I get the same kind of response from my DB and DSIL BUT they go to the same resort in the Poconos the same week every year.:confused3

After my DFiance and I decided we are DEFINITELY going to WDW for our "disneymoon," we had a lot of family members who were like, "You and your family- All you ever do is Disney! Wouldn't you like to do a cruise, or go somewhere ELSE?!" And it's never phrased nicely. It's kinda insulting!! Why do other people care? It's not like we're bringing them!! My DMom LOVES WDW- Every year, at least once, sometimes twice, there's a Disney trip, so when my fiance and I picked it, I knew we'd get responses, but nothing rude!! Personally, I'd be bored to tears on a cruise. I have no interest in it. Why can't it just be: BECAUSE I WANT TO!! NOW WHAT?! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I have been married for 32 years and whenever I remarry my current husband we will honeymoon at WDW!!!!! I love the idea.
Congratulations!

Ok guys, I have been coming to this discussion board for a couple of years now so here is my first post!!!
I get the same reaction from coworkers and family. They never quite understand why we go year after year and I always get the same question-"Don't you want to see other places?" I have finally started replying-"Oh but I do. I get to visit Canada, Mexico, France, the U.K., take a jungle cruise, go on a safari, and blast off in to space." Most people don't get it so they then shut up!!

I also get this response from family and co-workers. It used to upset me, asthough because they were questioning, maybe I shouldn't go. I am a single mother who works hard and lots of extra OT to be able to vacation. I have now chocked it up to jealousy. Granted not everyone I know thinks Disney is the ultimate vacation, but I sure do! Just be glad they are not going on your trip with you. Have fun.:goodvibes

I hear that all the time from friends and co-workers. It is what I love and where I will go for as long as I can. They say "why don't you ever go anywhere else?" Why would I, when WDW has everything! It really is the greatest place on earth!:woohoo:

that's awesome! :lmao: i will have to use that! well, you know i hear it from my family and coworkers since we are going to wdw 6 times this year! someone asked,"don't you ever go anywhere else?" well, we do but our favorite is disney!!! we live close to the beach so that is always there but what's most important is my family(dh and 6yr dd) loves disney as much as i do so that's where we are happiest and that what matters. not what my coworker says who doesn't take her 11yr dd on any vacations!!! she told me one time her dd wouldn't like disney!!!!!! a knife in my heart!!!! i wanted to fly across her desk and whop her!!! oh well, we're the ones that are going to have all the memories at the happiest place on earth!!!!;)
