I just heard about this yesterday, and if I were still a 4-H leader, I'd probably give it a shot (keeping in mind that we have horses).

A private school in a neighboring town in doing Pony Patty. They will sell tickets with a number on them. Then they'll take a pasture and mark it with a grid (you see where this is going, don't you ;) ). They they'll put the pony in the pasture. Whichever block he/she decides to "share the wealth" in, will be the winning number! (At this point last night, my DH wanted to know what happens if it doesn't all fall in one square - I have no idea, but I would guess they'd go with where the most landed ).

You gotta admit, it's different!

Different? I'm in suburbia, and this fundraiser (generally with a cow) was deadly common. Not exactly unique.

Wow, I've never heard of it before, and I'm in about as rural an area as you can get. Anyway, I thought it was cute!

Those of us in rural areas never thought of pooh as a fund raiser... That is too funny! Our 4-H group didn't spend any money last year (virtually) so we aren't raising any this year!

Yeah, we do it with a cow. We call it "Cow Patty Bingo".

That's how its been around here for as long as I can remember, too!

I still think it's a cute idea.... :hippie:

maybe you could just use the backyard, and the family dog... :rotfl:

I am sending it to my aunt who runs one of the Therapy Dog 4-H groups. She has dogs, cats, ducks, geese, horses, goats, and alpacas. Plenty of pooh options!

I have to say that originally I though you were going to say that the patties had to be examined for a number...I was concerned! :teeth:

My high school (Dr. Phillips) in Orlando did that 10 years ago

You know, that would be a cute idea for a Therapy Dog program (dogs in the backyard, I mean). Her house sounds worse than mine as far as variety. That's a really good project too.

And for all of the rest of you, I apologize. I didn't realize it was so common. I'd never heard of it before and thought it was cute. I guess I just don't get out enough... :goodvibes

I live in a rural area and our HS did this for years - "Cow Patty Bingo."

They gave it up a couple of years ago because for about 3 years the cow refused to poop!! :rotfl: We'd all be standing on the field, anxiously holding out tickets and the darn cow wouldn't/couldn't crap! :lmao: I mean some of the diehards stood there until 1:00 am.
