Just booked our first stay at the fort for October. My father, myself and my dd4 will be bring in camper down then my mom and dd13 will fly in and take magical express to the resort. We are trying to find a campground between Valdosta,Ga-Lake City,Fl for an overnight stay before coming on it to the Fort. Any one have an suggestions?
On a side note we have asked for a preferred spot are they any loops that we should ask for if possible. We are going to have a 35 ft fifth wheel

We stay at the KOA at Lake Park, GA, exit 5 on I-75. 200 miles to Disney, big pull-through sites, swimming pool, easy to get to.

People like Eagle's Roost at exit 5. Goofy14 just stayed there. We have stayed at River Park in Valdosta. Mostly permanent there with overnighters in the front. It is small but easy on/off from 1-75. I think it is at exit 18. Never had an issue with road noise. Its about $25 a night with good sam. If you go a little farther, we have stayed at Ocala Noth. That was a little more expensive at $40 but the overnight sites were decent. Level, paved, and pull through.

My avatar is from Eagles Roost in December. Not a bad place to stay. We only stayed in one bad campground on vacation, Battlefield Campground in Vicksburg, MS.:crazy2: Avoid this place at all costs! Wanted to see the battlefield on the way home, breaks up the trip, only campground I ever felt like I should have brought my 9mm with me and kept it by the bed! Left Vicksburg earlier than we planned but can always go back on another trip. :yay:

Here is our site at Eagles Roost January 30, I looked around the exit on the way in there is a Cracker Barrel, Taco Belle and several more places to eat, a couple of decent places for fuel, a Camping World across the interstate and a RV dealer just up the street. There was some road noise but we were in the second row near the front. The site was flat enough that we didn't have to unhook..

since we are only planning on staying overnight we don't plan to unhook from the camper. Are there any resturants close enough to walk to around Eagle's Roost?

I didn't see any within walking distance. We will be going by there again next week and I'll look closer

Edited to add----- Nothing within walking distance!
