I'm going to WDW in August, and am trying to pre-plan the coolness (got my moisture wicking shirts and misty mate ready). I'm thinking about the neck coolers, but was wondering if they wear off the sunscreen on your neck. Any experience?

Living in Texas (where we've already seen 100 degrees this year!) and after getting a nasty burn at the beach this weekend...:beach:
I would be interested to know as well...going to Disney in September and expecting it to be hot!
:sunny:

There were 7 of us that wore neck coolers for 9 days in August ranging from the Palest of pale complexions to a light olive. No one noticed their neck more sensitive to the sun due to the neck coolers. My daughter who is 7 and a would-be fashionista enjoyed moving her neck cooler around her body many times a day and wearing it on her forehead, her thigh or even her waist as the moment suited her. Her neck was fine.

Keep in mind that the neck cooler does not roll around your neck and it does not sweat. You sweat but the neck cooler does a good job of cutting down on the neck sweating. So no we never noticed a sun burn on our necks. But the neck coolers do tend to develop a "smell" after a few days. You will need to wash them.

In case the neck cooler doesn't seem like the thing for you I came accross this company.

They make hats/bandana's with the same gel substance in them as the neck coolers.

When you are finished using your neck cooler it is best to hang it up in some fashion. The crystals will continue to release the water stored up in them. Never lay them flat on a surface. I kind of relate this to leaving a wet cutting board or something else for that lies on a wet surface. It begins to smell. Also it is best to have an extra neck cooler on hand, It is always best to hand wash the neck coolers when you are using them a lot. :cool2:

P.S. I like that hat. Great idea.

I found mine were fine to dry on a flat surface. I would rotate them on occasion. Mine take over a week to dry out completely. We try handwashing them each night but you need such a small amount of soap you have to be careful.
