I had it done about 2 years ago. The recovery was not as easy as I anticipated, but it was soooo worth it!
Mine was done in a PS office (he had a surgical suite with an anesthesiologist) and I was put to sleep. Saw one surgeon who said she could do it while I was awake with a local "if I had a high pain tollerance". I would STRONGLY recommend against this!! I came to a bit and remember saying, "ouch!" and then I went back to sleep, lol.
Came home right afterwards and threw up from the pain/anesthesia. It took a few weeks before I was able to lay in bed to go to sleep because of the pain. I slept in a recliner during that time.
The bruising was terrible! It took a good 6-8 weeks to go away. Turtlenecks will hide the bruises, good thing it's winter
During the recovery I was not happy that I'd done it--but 2 years later I am so glad I did!
Slightly OT, I had SmartLipo done on my abs/flanks back in May and it took about 2 weeks for the bruising to go away and close to a month for the swelling to go down. I didn't have a lot of pain but I felt numb in the area for awhile.
Definitely wear your compression "garment" for as much as you can in the early days.
I am now 6+ months out from my surgery and am so happy I had it done. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery!

I'm very interested in this procedure......I'd love it if you posted updates as you progress through your recovery. I had spinal surgery many years ago & it was done through the front of my neck & it has left me with very poor muscle tone in that area.
Also curious, if you don't mind my asking, what was the cost? Please feel free to pm me if you don't want to post that.
Thanks!
THank you. THis is exactly what I wanted to hear about.
I had it done (under local) on friday. I took a valium before (which did nothing). It was a long 45 min..... I feel like a freak. All swollen and bruised and wearing the "headband" thing. On a bright note, the bruising is a bit better this am and the swelling is too. HOpe the Jowls go down some though! LOL.
Thanks again. I am already glad I did it, just didn't anticipate the discomfort being as much as it is and the bruising.....
Local? You are brave! It took a good few months for all of the swelling to go down so that I could see the final results.
Mine cost around $1200 and that covered everything, the surgery, the anestesiologist and the follow up visits.

Brave or stupid, I dunno... LOL.
I didn't have anesthesia.... That was going to be about 1000 more... So I am cheap and decided I have lived through a lot of things, surely I could live through that.....I did, but there were parts that weren't much fun

I was awake for my entire Laser Liposuction, 2+ hours, with just valium and lidocaine. They actually prefer you be awake during the procedures now. I actually was stood up twice during my procedure to make sure the liposuction was being done evenly on each side.
What did you have lipo on?
Abs - upper and lower.
