Neat Blog: "The Fort Wilderness Book"

Being a Dis Podcast listener, I loved this part:

"The other sight from yesteryear that you no longer see is people swimming in Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon. In the early years the beaches at each of the Magic Kingdom area resorts were busy, but since swimming was banned many years ago the beaches have become lonely tracts of clean white sand. Why was swimming banned? There were some safety concerns centered around alligators, copperhead snakes and a rather nasty little amoeba, Naegleria Fowleri, more commonly called the "brain-eating amoeba". Take my advice . . . stay out of the water!"

Stay out of the D*** Lakes! (TY webmaster Pete for burning this into my brain! :lmao:)

Thanks from me too for the find, BB.

The blogger appears to be our very own DIS poster CDNCruiser who is famous for starting the recent long runs of the Musket Mickey sign and the Mickey Ears lightposts.

The blog entry at AllEars indcludes a picture of Gary. Hey man, what's with the cheesy mustache? :rotfl2: (jk)

Thanks Gary!

That is Awesome! Being a Musket Mickey Sign recipient and a lover of FW, I appreciate it all.. Thank you Gary!

Guilty as charged!

I have written quite a few blogs for AllEars, many of them focus on The Fort!

You can find my first Fort Wilderness article, from 2009, here: http://allears.net/ae/issue520.htm

All the rest are in an archive here: http://land.allears.net/blogs/guestblog/guest_bloggers/gary_cruise/

My wife has a few as well, they are here: http://land.allears.net/blogs/guestblog/guest_bloggers/carol_cruise/

Cheesy mousetache?
Yes, I suppose it's not as stylish as it was when I grew it in 1972 . . . my boss back then told a group of his employees that facial hair was not allowed. That's the moment that I started to grow it. I'm still holding a grudge 42 years later! :rotfl2:

Gary - it is so great that y'all have so much info to share with us. thanks
BTW I was next door to y'all on last year's Pacific Coast cruise...we met on our verandas! :) I think I took the photo of you and Carol as we left San Fran with the Golden Gate bridge in the background that you posted!
It was nice to meet you...an internet celebrity!:)

That was a terrific cruise, the second time we've enjoyed that itinerary!

It's always nice to have a professional photographer next door!

Thanks Lynda!

yup that was the pic...it was your camera that was good at picture-taking, not me! I just pointed it towards y'all...;)
I was B2B with the WBPC and loved going back to San Fran...my dad was stationed there at the Navy base Treasure Island. Hadn't been back since we left in 1968.

We did the westbound Panama crossing in 2011 and then did the LA/Vancouver repositioning B2B with Alaska a few months later. Loved every bit of it!

You just gave me my weekend reading material.

And as a Facial Hair Fellow myself.. nothing cheesy about it.. unless you are eating nacho cheese and it dusts off the Jalepenos. ;)
