Im trying to book a hotel for next month and im having a lot of trouble. im going with my mom who is very picky, she wants a NICE hotel within 5-10min walking distance from DL.

please recommend something for me! the one shes looking at now i believe is the marriot or fairefeild inn.

thanks :)

I would say that HOJOs fits in the nice category and is within walking distance.

Thanks spaceman for replying. I agree.

However, my mom doesnt. nothing i recommend is good enough for her. Plus, i think that would be too far for her to walk.

It depends on what she classifies as "nice." If she means like 3- or 4-star, the Fairfield Inn is probably the "nicest" within 5-10 minutes. The Hilton and Marriott are definitely very nice full-service hotels (as opposed to motels), but they are a bit further away if you want to walk (like maybe 15 minutes).

Sounds like mom is kind of taking the fun out of planning your trip.

How about this idea...book a room at GCH and then hand her the bill at the end of the trip....just kidding. Hope it works out for you :)

I'd cautious with the Fairefield Inn. It's nice and a recognizable chain compared to its neighbors. The problem is that is the worst Fairefield Inn I've been to compared to several in its chain.

Though with your constraints it's your only choice outside of the onsite offerings.

Fairfield Inn by Marriott is an excellent motel, and its a 5 min walk. We've always had great service and rooms there. If your mom is wanting that quality, the only other ones I might recommend would be Candy Cane and Hojos.

That's where my family always stays when we go to Disneyland. The last time we went, they let us check into our room at 7am for that night!

Plus I love their carpet LOL...

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is "a NICE hotel within 5-10min walking distance from DL."

The NICEST, I'd say.:thumbsup2

We like the FFI as well. But beware that they do not provide free breakfast as other Fairfield Inn's do, and there is a $11/nt. parking fee. Other than that, it is the best option for us when we go and the walk is easy.

Hahaha :rotfl2:

I wish! ahh wouldn't that be nice. lol

But yes. She is making things difficult. She wanted us to stay in the Hilton, which i believe is a 20min walk. Then suggested we use the shuttle (i honeslty perfer to walk, so i am not relying on anyone to take me here or there). I said i didnt think that was a good idea, seeing as how i have a 1 & 3 year old and a double wide jogging stroller which does not fold well.

But iv never taken a shuttle before so mabye im wrong about that. Not sure. But either way i feel like it would be easier and better for everyone is we were in close walking distance. Especially because we leave mid day for 1-2hrs so my girls can take a nap.

No you are not wrong, walking distance is key. Has your mom stayed at HoJo? I think it's fantastic *especially with the retro rate* I suppose if that wasn't available and I was with your mom I'd check out the Candy Cane. For our most recent visit we stayed at Best Western Stovall's *$65 a night ~ Thanksgiving weekend* my mom was with us and she didn't complain. She and my grandma have stayed with us at HoJo's *my mom more than once.

Really?? that would be great if we could check in early, too.

As long as its close, i dont care which hotel we stay at. I wanted to stay at the Desert originally, just because it was cheaper, has free continental breakfast with will save me money, and is closest walking distance to the park.

I wouldn't mind staying at fairefeild Inn. It seems like a very nice hotel. The fact that its a little further walk then Desert doesn't bother me at all. The only two things that i don't like is that it doesn't offer free breakfast, and check in isnt until 4pm which is late. (you can request a early check in but its not garunteed).

I would suggest the Annabella hotel. I have stayed there with my family before and will be returning there when we go to the resort in April. The rooms are a reasonable rate ($14/night parking) and comfortable as well.

Walking time to the parks is about 5-10 minutes to get to GCH which you can cut through to get to the front gates.
