So I'm leaving in under 2 weeks and today I call a HVAC repairman because my unit is making a weird noise. He discovers that my heat exchanger is cracked which could be leaking CO into our home, and since the unit is over 10yrs old recommends replacing the entire thing to the tune of about 4500$

Needless to say, we don't really have an extra 5K laying around, except in the DLR fund.
Of course, now I feel like the responsible thing to do would be to get back as much $ from the trip as possible and buy it outright rather than having to charge the repair. I feel however that this would throw me into a depression.
DH says not to worry, and that we'll get plenty of tax$ back to pay off the repair, but I still feel bad about using all of the $ having fun in the sun at DL when I could avoid creating a debt.
What would you do? Just wondering, am I being really irresponsible taking the money saved for DLR and going anyway?
