Have 6 rooms (2 - 2BR & 4 ST) reserved for DH extended family gathering. Some of their flight arrangements got changed and I called to see if there was anyway to shift the 6 rooms at BCV's all back one night - to check in one day later and check-out one day later. I didn't think there was anyway it was possible - but DH said - "never hurts to try". I called and checked availability and lo and behold - it was available. The MS person was as surprised as I was. Neither of us could believe it. I couldn't reserve them at that moment because I had to check with everyone to make sure it would work. DH & I called everyone and got the "go ahead" and called MS back about 30 min. after initial call. I knew there was a chance they would be gone - but I'm thinking if I was lucky enough that they were available 30 minutes ago - then surely my luck will hold out. I call back - get a different person MS rep. who didn't check availability before starting to transfer things and she started transferring, then was one studio short. She asked me what to do - she thought I'd keep 5 rooms for one time frame and one for the other. Doesn't work that way for our family trip. So she started moving everything back to the original. Then there was a minute or two when she thought some of the original days were now gone. I figured I had just gone and ruined everything. But eventually she was able to recover all the original rooms. Crisis averted, but not without a few moments of terrible panic on my part!

Anyone know is there a way they can see the rooms in inventory and then hold them until they get things processed???? The first guy I talked acted like he could do that - but the second person didn't offer that? Just Curious!

Nope, they can't do that. It would be nice, though, wouldn't it? Kind of like back in the old days trying to get CRT for breakfast. You'd call exactly 90/180 days out right when Disney Dining opened and say "CRT, Monday, April X, three adults, two children" before you even acknowledged the CM on the phone. We got a newer CM for Disney Dining once and she was slow and we missed out on the entire breakfast while she was trying to book it for us.

What I would do if I were you is say to the others that if I call and the dates are available then I will switch them on the spot. None of this find out if available then re-circle to see if everyone wants to switch. Too much work.

I hope the flight arrangement issue that started all that work out as well.

I really thought about just taking my chances and booking it when I first had the guy on the phone; however, thoughts of some custody issues - what if someone had to be at work and coming home on a Sunday had me concerned about some church issues. So in order to keep everyone happy, I figured I should check. Now, all I've done is gotten everyone thinking about how it could be better and it's not going to happen. Oh well - they still have free accommodations thanks to us - so they can't complain too much!

One thing you could try is emailing MS through the member website and asking that way.

Since they won't have you on the phone, and have to do it via the email request, they might be able to move them in a way that you get them all moved.

We asked to be moved from a SV to LV room this way. I told them only if it was available and I would not risk losing what I had. Within a few days, I got the email back that said they had switched the reservation.

Can't hurt! Good luck!!!

 Your post reminded me of my terrible manuevers last year the day after purchasing DVC. We had reservations planned for Pop, when we boght the Guide stayed on the phone with MS and got us 2 SV studios for the same dates. Terrific!! Well I started thinking about the wonderful pin code rate we got at Pop so I cancelled the SV studios...I know I know...:scared1: When my husband found out he freaked :headache: that he was not going to see the animals. I said "No problem, I will just get the rooms back tomorrow" So then knowing I could get the AKV rooms back( I know, I am blonde and just didnt understand)...what did I do....cancelled the Pop reservation....so now I had nothing....but stupidly thought all was well until the next morning....when I called MS myself and she said that she was very sorry "NOTHING AT AKV WAS AVAILABLE" :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: Oh my lord, that was the closest I have ever come to having a panic attack in my 42 years. Cause not only had I cancelled my reservation, I had also cancelled my MIL's :scared1::scared1::scared1: SO we had Nada for the annual family trip.

Needless to say by the time my Guide called me back I was blubbering incoherently on the phone--eventually getting out how stupid I was. He was shocked and couldn't believe I was this stupid, too ( I am sure thinking this on the inside, but pleasantly trying to reassure me on the phone). So he asked me to pray...pray hard...that he could speak with MS to get my rooms back. He made we wait several minutes on the phone....shear agony

(looking back on it he probably went to get a cup of coffee, doughnut from the breakroon, had a conversation with his buddy Bill in the next cubicle--then got back on the line with me) He came back and said he got me my rooms back. :yay:Ahhhhhh--angels singing down from heaven. I assured him that if DH and I ever had a child we would name him after George. ( not likely at 42 but it did prove the point). So I did write a letter exhaulting our Guide to the heavens and admitting that for sure DVC had rooms specifically for Guides to use as marketing tools. What an excellent carrot on a string.

:worship: That day one man, named George, held my marriage and my wonderful relationship with my MIL in his hands---and like a true hero, came through for me. :cloud9:

Moral of the story : when someone gets you wonderful accomadations at a world class resort....leave it the hell alone.!!!:cool2:
