I'm sending someone in the Navy a care package. There are quite a few sites that seem good, does anyone recommend a particular site to use?
Are you building your own care package or looking for a site that you select a pre-made package? As an active duty Navy and Army family, I can help with ideas if you would like. I've always put together my own to send, as it's personalized for the individual recipient. USPS has all of the supplies needed that you can even order online, free. https://store.usps.com/store/product/shipping-supplies/military-care-kit-P_MILITARYKIT
I just ordered the kit, thank you so much for the link! I wanted to put my own together, but I didn't feel comfortable doing so because of the mailing part.
The package is for my foster son's 20yo sister who just shipped out. I want to send her girly, comfort stuff (like face masks, lotions, etc), but I don't know what's allowed. The pre-packaged ones aren't really for women, and just didn't seem suited to her.
Pretty much anything is allowed. Although I would recommend against liquids of any type including lotions. Face masks need to meet uniform regulations so don't bother with those either.
The most appreciated items in military care packages are foods: baked goods, packaged treats, candy, gum, etc. Keep in mind that it could take up to 2 months for a package to reach someone on a ship. They only get so many mail deliveries per deployment. She likely took all the things she will "need" so focus on things that are enjoyable to consume and that she can share with others. I.E. FOOD and CANDY

She will love whatever you send, as they just love getting mail in general. Do you know if she’s going outside the US? (Don’t share where… I ask because many times they like to get items that are only available in the US)
If you are wanting send her face masks to be worn while on deployment or on base they can be regular masks but they have to be in good taste and one color (Blue, Green, Tan, black or white). The ones they issue are not very comfortable.
If she is underway on a carrier or ship, keep in mind they have very little space to store items. They will always share any snacks you send! Again, they love to get items that remind them of home.
Yes, to lotion and liquids for personal care. Keep it small sized and double wrap, so that they don’t leak. No, on shaving cream.
You have to declare liquids when you mail and they may be prohibited to an overseas APO/FPO address. I was not permitted to send ANY liquids to my husband during some of his deployments.
We have 2 on deployment overseas and they’ve been able to receive cologne and lotion. They even order off of Amazon.
I said liquids MAY be prohibited. You need to check based on the specific location you are sending to.
Of course you need to check. Different commands also have different regulations.
