Navigator Verandah to Alaska

I currently have a hold on an Alaskan cruise for later this year. The cheapest verandah was a navigator's. It is over $1,000 to get a regular verandah. Should we stick with the Navigator (assuming I get the approval to actually book it from my family)? I know people say it helps block wind especially when its cold, but I want to make sure our view isn't also blocked! (This would be the September 9 sailing.)

If you can get 6134, 6634, 7120 or 7620 (not positive on the 7th deck rooms - double check), they are categorized as 7A, but have the plexiglass wall. They have a slight obstruction in the upper corner, so they're considered navigator verandahs. We like the typical 7As because they provide a nice amount of privacy, but you do have to stand to see the water below. Do some searching for secret verandahs - you'll find lots of videos and reports on these rooms.

I haven't traveled yet, but we have a navigator's verandah booked for our upcoming Alaska cruise at the end of May. I heard a lot of people on here say that they really liked them for Alaska.

Only downside of the "true" Navigator's with the metal wall is that you need to stand when looking out. Love how it blocks wind / cold, and is a bit more private. You still have all the advantages like having refreshments, supplies, restroom, close at hand. IMHO, be glad you snagged it and save the $1,000. Caveat, it's just me & my wife. I have no idea what would happen with multiple children angling to see out.

We are in 6638. Not a whole lot of selection since we booked late (well by DCL standards). I think it was the last Navigator! But I will keep an eye out, especially as it reaches the PIF date! Thanks for the suggestions!

At least it’s 3 adults (my parents and me), so we can negotiate easier!

We sailed to Alaska in a navigator's verandah this past June. The view was awesome. Loved the cute style of the Nav verandah, too. It's a great deal and we saw everything we wanted to see. Would book it again in a heartbeat.

That's a Navigators verandah on either the Dream or Fantasy, correct? They are basically a "normal" verandah with a bit of "obstruction" due to the superstructure of the ship.

The Navigator verandahs on the Wonder are different. The verandah is much more enclosed:

That is what the one on the Magic looks like. The one on the Wonder is larger and not circular.

Did a search and found a thread with a pic of what the Wonder's looks like:

That's nice but it isn't a Wonder Navigator's Verandah. It's a 6A.

You're right. My mistake. I have circled this same room but on the other side of the ship (room 6644) on the photo below. The 5 rooms to the right are the navigator's verandahs on deck 6. You can see they have the rounded edge on both sides whereas ours was straight on on side.

Yes, that is the Wonder. As you can see from the scenery we were in Alaska.P5210817small.JPG
