Navigator app chat questions

Been a while since I have been on a ship (almost 19 days... I have a really bad memory... LOL).

A few questions about the chat feature in the navigator application:
1. I think they added group chat. Can anyone confirm this?
2. As I recall, you get a six digit number which you can share with someone so they can chat to you. However you don't know that number until you get on board. Is there anyway to share information PRIOR to boarding that someone can use to look you up? Like I know you can add a name, but I don't remember if you can search someone out by their name (I don't think so). I don't think you can search cabin id either.

Is the only option to find them onboard first, then share that number? Or work out a secret exchange on information (I will leave my six digit code on a piece of paper under the 3rd towel on the left deck 11 left side entrance from cabanas...). Or is there something we can work out now (a preplanned name like TiggerBouncy for example) which I can tell them to look up on board?

As of October 2015, there was no way to search out other passengers through the app. I just used other electronic means (text message, email, etc) while I still had cell service to share my six digit number with people outside of my cabin. If nothing else works, you could text the code to another cabin via the wave phone.

Once they had the number, they could add me as a contact, and then I was notified to confirm that they could add me. Once I confirmed they could add me, they were automatically added as one of my contacts.

Now that I've typed that out, it sounds more complicated than it really is.

Thanks both!

An enhancement I think Disney needs is to search out by name or cabin. :-)

Although I still like my other idea.

One more tip: you have to keep the app open all the time or you won't receive messages.

By cabin, I would be REALLY uncomfortable with. Even by name it could be odd, especially for minors. IMO.

Well, you'll get the messages, you just have to open it to refresh it and have it pull the messages "to you". :) But even with the app open I didn't always get notification of a message.

That was not remotely the case for me on the WBPC. I got notifications when my phone was locked just as I do with text messages. My mom was not getting her notifications and a few minutes at guest services and they'd adjusted the settings so she got them too. Everyone else in our dinner party also got them.

We found if the app was closed of the person receiving the test and you texted them: at the top of the text of the person sending the message it would say (person's name receiving the message) "Is away" once they opened the app again they would get the message.

Also the little number ( that shows there is a message) would not appear by the Disney Cruise app unless the app was open.

Next time I recommend taking your phone to guest services to get help adjusting notifications.
