Navigating ports with young kids

We just booked our first Disney Cruise on the Disney Magic for 5/7. We are so excited!!!

I have a quick question though. We will be traveling with our 5 and 3 year olds. We noticed that the 3 year old couldnt do most excursions so we figured we would just have to explore the ports on our own. How hard is it to get around with small kids? Are the beaches and shops easy to reach? Are there busses?

Are there any resources out there for navigating the specific ports?

i see you are on the repo cruise. I also booked that cruise but forgot the ports they are going to besides castaway cay. Let us know what ports they are so people that want to help you don't have to look it up. Enjoy

We were just on the Magic and for the first time didn't do any type of excursions. Instead we took (shared) taxis from the ports to the beach (a promise to my daughter after doing A LOT of walking tours on our summer cruise!). Usually there are shops right at the port. A couple of sites to check out for specific port info are http://www.whatsinport.com/ and http://cruiseportwiki.com/. Also check out http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=587 and https://www.tripadvisor.com/. If you plan on doing a lot of walking, you might want to bring a stroller for the 3 year old.
