Nausea medicines for those of us who get motion sickness?

Ask your Dr. about scopolamine patches. They are prescription and you wear them behind your ears. My DH and I used them on our winter Disney cruise to Mexico when things got a bit rough and they worked great. Didn't really make us sleepy but major dry mouth!

Be careful with the patch though! If you get any of the medicine near your eye, you will have a dialated pupil (from experience, I know this).
Also, not only the dry mouth, but constipation is another side effect.

The patch does work great though! I used it for 2 different trips to Disneyland. Our first trip to DL I didn't use it, and honestly, I was not a very good vacationer. Never did yak, but boy did I have dizziness and a very topsy turvy stomach.

For just plain air travel though, I use Bonine or Dramamine, whatever I have on hand. Airplane travel without medication makes my stomach flip (but again, I don't yak) but betwen the motion sickness medicine, snacking the whole time, and ginger ale I don't have issues.

I've only had Bonine and Dramamine, and both make me sleepy.

For me personally, it hardly matters now that I've had spinal surgery, I can't go on any rides that would potentially make sick...so problem solved, sort of.

I have always had bad vertigo, motion sickness and now have menieres so i get prescriptions zofran, reglan and the scope patch. I take the patch with me but haven't used it for any Disney trips, then again I don't even go on any rides that cause me to get sick otherwise our day is ruined.

Just wanted to add that almost all of the homeopathic remedies can be used together. You can use an OTC med like Bonine with ginger pills, wrist bands and Motion Eaze.

I can't read in cars or on planes, even for a second. But I have to say my tolerance for rides is getting better and better -- or maybe I'm just figuring out when to close my eyes at the right time. I get extremely drowsy from anti-nausea medications so I rely on ginger ale, especially on planes.
