Put a cheque into an envelope with 'Natwest paying In' on the front and posted it through their door as they were closed. Something I do quite often. Noticed it hadn't been credited to my account on the usual day so I phoned them up just to check it hadn't gone astray only to be told that they can no longer open any of their post and they have to take it out of their box and send it to Southampton incase someone has put ANTHRAX in the envelope.

Maybe we should start this at work in the Doctor's Surgery. Sure it would go down well with patients wanting repeat prescriptions!!

Are we all going a bit mad? What makes Natwest a target? Have I missed something in the news lately?

Does sound a bit loopy, but I'm afraid I suspect this is for two reasons - the suing culture (if a member of staff was hurt by your envelope) and the big corporation culture, it's all gone global now and sadly, your Natwest branch doesn't operate like it used to as part of your community High St.

I have an image in my head of someone opening piles of Natwest post dressed in a chemical warfare suit.

Just imagine if they found anything suspicious - it would be like the CDA in Monsters Inc! :lmao:

Sounds rather odd to me, my dad used to do that all the time at Natwest, I will have to tell him not to in the future!

Guess with all the media/public outcry over bonuses to bank staff they are being over cautious :rolleyes1
