I booked a National full-size car before I got my DC card. How do I go about getting the discount that everyone is talking about? Also is the Emerald Aisle membership free with the DC card or do you have to pay the $50? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The membership is free. You can try and call and have the discount applied to your existing reservation. OR try a new reservation with the DC coupons and you might end up with a better quote.

See the above post about National. The DC discount is NOT coming off the quotes. Quite a few of us are calling and emailing to see what the problem is.

As a side, I was waiting until I got the app which is WHY I didn't make my ressies Sunday when there was a 20% discount. I was told them could modify my ressies to include the EA #. Course, now the website isn't giving any discount.

Tinkerbell,
I do wish you would relax, they will fix the problem. Inudating the boards, National's email etc. does nothing but cause panic and aggrevation for all those involved.
Why not just say, National's boards are having a problem right now, but, it will be resolved As soon as possible.

Gail: Do you work for National? If so, thanks for letting us know the problem is being worked on :) I'm not paranoid as you seem to think I am. I'm just wondering why they didn't answer my ONE email which is what the tech support person AT National told me to do! I mean, how would they know there is a problem if someone doesn't alert them? I don't think that's panicking. Others have asked what is going on and I'm just letting them know. That's all. I'm making my ressies and hoping the problem is fixed in a timely manner.

No, I do not work for National. However, they are a business and as such they are not going to sit on their hands and not do anything to rememdy the situation/problem. They do not want to loose money or cause customers aggrevation.
If they are working on the problem, they are not going to answer emails right now. Techs only do Tech stuff, they don't answer email when there is a problem.
If you really want some fun, go to the site now. Everything defaults to 2002. Cannot get a ressie for Sept. 2001.
Now, let's everyone email them and tell them of the problem. :)

Gail: I wasn't suggesting they were sitting on their hands. As far as techs go, my DH is a Network Manager so I know how things go or don't go for that matter ;) I would think someone in customer service could clue us in (which tech service didn't know) as to they are experiencing problems as well or put something on the website as such. Wouldn't take long to put "sorry, we're presently experience technical difficulties..." :)

I did just make my ressie, which luckily, did not default to 2002. I just checked after you said that. Had me worried! I did notice, however, that it shows Disney Club and the contract #. I'm wondering if we'll get the % upon getting the vehicle. I have a few months so I'll just keep checking on it, I think ;)

The saga continues....

You would think that they could post a message, but, considering the fact that they cannot get much to work, I doubt a message would work either. :)
My S/O is also in computers, networks, etc. However, websites are a whole other ballgame.
One esoteric problem can throw everything off.
Good luck on the ressie, I keep checking rates and so far the ONLY discount that comes up is for 20.00 with my Delta Coupon, the Disney discount does not show with the Disney code.
Not worried, however, as I made my ressie months ago at 113.35 for the week inclusive.
Have the print out and email confirmation too. :)

Gail: My DH doesn't handle the their website either, but the other computer "stuff". They have a website where people can get rates as well as other things. It's agent related so it really must work properly.

Anyway, what's the Delta coupon you're referring to? I'm flying on Delta. I also noticed most other discounts aren't showing up, but one is. It's only for $6 so I don't think it's worth it. Another problem with me getting this discount could be due to the fact there a big convention there that week (which is why we are going with DH).

also, you got an excellent rate!

Hi,
The Delta coupon I am referring to came in my Skymiles Statement. It is for 20.00 off.
Pretty good one actually. I am using it in conjunction with the DC code.
It is an excellent rate, and I felt really good about it, (last year's was better at 110.25 for the week) also got airfare for 75.00 r/t from Hartford to Orlando, non stop.
It is obvious I spend WAY too much time out on the net. LOL

Any updates on the National/DC discount confusion?? I just went to the site to confirm my ressie for later this month and the DC discount did not appear! Do you think that if I have my printout they will honor the discount??

Melissa

Hopefully we can find out what's going on. Maybe National isn't the official rental car of WDW anymore?? Just a thought. Anyway, I don't have the DC, but usually can get the AP discount or the WDW Resort Guest discount. None of them are working either. The only discount I've been able to get is the Free Day coupon. Unfortunately I had ressies booked with the discount code and now when I view my ressies, the discount is gone, though I have a printed confirmation.

N2MM: I was told as long as you had a printout with confirmation number, you would be okay.

What discount are you referring to when you stay onsite? We're staying at POFQ.

Gail: I don't have a statement yet since this is my first purchase and haven't flown yet. I'm assuming you must fly first to get a statement. Is this correct?

Yes, Tinkerbell, you have to fly first and you don't always get car rental discounts in your statements. This was a first. Double checked and it came in my May statement.
National is still the official rental car of WDW.
Yes, if your confirmation is in print they will honor it.

Gail: That's right (sis company). When I called the number, he thought I was looking for Alamo rates. I said "did I call the wrong number" then he told me. I haven't checked the rates yet. I want an onsite and I didn't think they were (airport). I also read some bad things about them on here. I know nothing is perfect, but it's nice to get others opinions.

Tinkerbell,
No, they are not onsite, however, the shuttle is not a long ride. I would suggest you join Quick Silver or convert the ressie to quick rent. This way you will avoid the lines. Yes, the lines can be long at times and that is why we joined QS, we are in and out within 5 mins.
Personally, I have never had a problem with Alamo, if there ever was a problem with a car (very minor)they fixed it fast and gave us an upgrade. I have only ever encountered one rude employee, in Tampa, and I called and complained immediately. QS has a special number. They took care of everything right away and sent us coupons for free rental days.
My experiences with them have been positive, hopefully, yours will be also.

I posted this on another thread recently. With the regional specials, I saved more than with my discount contract # from Capital One. Still hoping I'll be able to use coupon also.

"The discount does not seem to be corrected yet, but the regional specials button is working properly. Anyone staying before September 30, 2001 may be able to save on their ressie. I clicked on regional specials, then, on side of Orlando, FL for a full size car, there is a button for Reservation. Click on that. Then, click on Emerald Club at the top of the page (By going through EC, it gives you the lower intermediate car rate). Sign in and the reservation page will come up with the special rate code in the contract number section. I added the LBV coupon number also and it accepted it. This brought my rate down from $138.36 to $125.27 for September 27-30 (4 days). Does anyone think I will have trouble using the coupon and regional special rate? I haven't deleted my old ressie yet just in case."

Gail: It was actually MORE expensive using the Delta coupon then using the current 25% off. I couldn't figure out how to combine them ;)
