National Rental - Minivan...Counter or Aisle?

I have rented several times with National Car Rental and am an Emerald Club member. This is my first time though to rent a minivan at Orlando Airport. My reservation states: "Your level of service is Counter. Please proceed to the rental counter."

I assumed that there must be something expired in my profile that requires attention and that's why it states to go to the counter first. So I called the 1-800 number to clear up the misunderstanding, and the agent said that at Orlando Airport...for a minivan rental...that minivan renters must proceed to the counter first.

Does that sound right?

i just ran a mock reservation for a minivan at MCO for sept 2 - 9, 2010

it said level of service was Emerald Reserve with no mention of counter

It's possible they are low on inventory for your date.

I rented a minivan from National in January and it was Emerald Reserve. We just walked out to the garage and picked our van. Did you use a coupon or an upgrade? I've read that upgrade coupons will send people to the counter.

Okay, so I just setup a new reservation - with the same information as the old one - and it now says Level of Service: Emerald Reserve. I made the original one months ago, so who knows why it read "proceed to counter".

Also not sure why the National customer service rep insisted that Orlando was counter-service only for minivans. I didn't think that was correct!
