National Rates Down Now!!

I didn't even look at it that way - we are renting and driving from Chicago. I took it as OhMari did the same thing (driving to the world.) But when we have rented in Orlando (only have used National) I never had a problem with miles. I know when we looked at a couple of other companies, if we went out of state then we had to pay mileage...wonder if they do the same thing in FL.
Not sure what OhMari is doing or has done. :) But, it is totally possible that she did what you did.
I was stating the unlimited mileage to ward off possible panic modes. ;)

thd contract id is 5007125 ( the one they assign when you join EA ), although we rarely use that one since it does not usually give discounts off the base rate

Jerseygirl

inspite of what disneyldjwr posted ...the rate for your dates has not changed that much:

September 4 11:30 am p/u Septermber 11 4:00pm d/o

1) Time & Distance ($104.54/Week) $104.54
(1) Extra - Time & Distance ($17.42/Day) $17.42
Discount Coupon Accepted ($20.00)
Contract ID 5003876
Inclusive Rate Items
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Subtotal $101.96

Taxes, Surcharges and Fees Concession Fee Recov Chrg 9.8 Pct $10.34
Tire/battery Fee .05/day $0.40
Florida Surcharge 2.00/day $16.00
License Recoupment Fee .39/day $3.12
Sales Tax (6.50%) $8.57
Subtotal $38.43

Calculate Estimated Total Estimated Total $140.39

thus the rate you got ....with the extra time aspect involved is still available to anyone as long as they do not book it through their "EA" login....and you are doing more than 7 days or maybe more ...

if you did not do it through the EA login, it will probably not even be Emerald Reserve, you might want to call National to see what they see on their computer as far as "place of pickup" eg.. counter or do you just go directly to the full size aisle

if you do check, please post back what they told you....thanks

have never run across this situation before since we always book using our EA login, your experience shows that there are other ways of playing around with National bookings.....on the internet

til then...
The email confirmation for that reservation reads :
Your level of service is Emerald Reserve. Please proceed directly to the rental lot and the car class reserved to choose your vehicle.
I printed the reservation, and will take it with us on our travel date.

with respect to EA code, now recalling that we signed up with biz.com, thus they may have assigned that code....we rarely use it since other codes are much better usually....and they allow you to change it, as most on this board will do

a lot of people here have used the 6100330 since it was getting a good break on concession fees until National realized they were losing money...smilawgs

jerseygirl

that is good that you were able to get the emerald reserve

try as much as we could, we could not even get a "fullsize" price since our membership defaults to full size for the mid size price, in this case it works against us when using EC number

was hoping that somewhere in your information they would have where you would have to go to....

thanks for your posts...

good handling

Just goes to show you what a couple of hours can do to a rate. I ran exactly what she stated and I gave you the total when it came up. I did not take the time to copy and paste the info, but, it is nice to see that the rates can fall.

exactly, just goes to show you that there are no "absolutes" in the car rental rate game, just "relativities" of the moment

HA - the closer we get, the more into panic mode I go. I was really happy that with the EC contract # the price was lower than the Amex code from Mousesavers - I figured I would be the one person who would not be able to use it for some reason :goodvibes

tyry

the amex code is variable rate

American Express Agency Family Pass

which gives a weekly rate of 160.93 and daily rate of 22.99 regardless of where you book...eg mco tpa lax las

we used Amex code this past weekend at bwi .....22.99 a day ....for three days

if we had gone with regular contract id codes the weekend costs were oK 26$ a day but the extra day for monday would have been about 60$ for the day ( it sure was nice to have the Amex code to make the rental reasonable )

it was good when other contract codes' base rate were above the Amex base rate but now the base rates for those codes have definately come down

we just have to continue to do the "checking" game....which in the end if it gets us a cheaper rate is all worth it.
